Still compiling a list of what we need, I need to print this puppy out and look at it properly. My laptop is throwing a fit at loading the .pdf, so I'll do it on the work computer tomorrow. We aren't going to need a lot - I checked with Massey and I can't get lights from the Photo dept. sadly. I don't anticipate this coming to more than a hundy, but I'll confirm soon. Soon, I say!

Also, to hell with those no-silky bastards. I was getting all excited about some pretty curtains.

I looked in a pamflet for lights (haha, Farmers Christmas lights). They had spiffey rope lights.

Nope, they are seperate entities entirely.

Also - I have quotes! Grouse will do me a single light kit plus bubble machine for $105.50, or a double for $146.00. This estimate is for four days, pickup friday return monday - I'll talk to them again and find out if I can make the pickup on the weekend to cut off a bit, and I need to go back to Massey and try to wrangle some free stuff. Bubble machine alone for the four days is $65.00.

I do need to go and suss the ligths though - I'm not that familiar with standard lighting, moreso with flash units (which they don't have).

Smoke machines are a bit of a problem - there are five different kinds, and I have NO clue how they're different! They range from 40-80 for one day.

I have talked to my mum, and to my mum's friend, and we might have a stack of white, fairly flimsy stuff to hang on the walls/ceiling. Whoot! Plus mum has confirmed that we CAN go into her stash, so long as we dont mind multi-colours. Plus, she has a whole-sale fabric contact, so we could get white calico for $4/m.

It's nothing against anyone, but by the time you figure out what I am allowed to and get it all together... it'll be more expensive than the hall price. Seriously, egg white replacer costs about $100 ALONE. .___.

And on the Picnic... it was actually quite a bit of work to prepare last year. We had to have a date, secure the venue, organise people and events and prizes.... Even then, it didn't go quite as planned, although I'm sure no-one could really tell. =3=
It's just about as much work as the Ball, so... no Picnic this year I'm afraid, it'll be the ball. Next year we can alternate back to the Picnic. Y/Y?

Still working on a menu, and trying to get quantities sorted - to be perfectly honest, I'm thinking about looking ito a caterer - trying to work out how much stuff I need (flour, cheese, etc) is doing my head in...anybody got a catering friend/relative to give me pointers? At the rate I'm going, I'm just going to make something up and pay for the rest myself. Which would hurt.

Hehe, I have the biggest cookbook collection in the world - but a cross-somparison would be good. Food talk on msn tonight at 7ish? Good for you? If we can get a concrete menu tonight, that would be fantastic.
