| @reiko; i swear by sports tape. http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=15709 for me, i have tape binding, then i either wear a binder over it or bind myself flatter with bandages-- i'm busty enough that tape binding alone doesn't get me flat enough for my liking (and the fact i have 'centred' boobs does not help...).
also, make gintoki's shirt loose-ish (not overly loose, just not extremely close-fitting). the fact that it's black will also help hide your bust, especially since he half-wears something over it which will shadow one side of your chest more. depending on your cup size (and how your boobs look like after you bind them with tape), you might want to close your shirt up a little more than he does.
/flail?
@cherilina; /highfives for taiwan binders; i'm getting one from a batch order back here >w< |

| Do you guys think I could use canvas and pins to bind a D cup? Need to look as flat as possible... I have a binding vest but it rides up to under my bust which is really annoying and I think/should be able to make the canvas fit much better - maybe in 2 parts (one for bust and the other for tummy). |

| Has anyone used one of the binding shirts from Underworks? I'm considering getting one (birthday pressie from Mum ftw) so I'd like to hear a review if anyone has one? |

| Ahmm...I'm a nub with bras and stuff...but I'm very small for my age and the smallest cup is still a little too big for me - not only that, but no matter how tight I try to bind myself, it doesn't hurt one bit.
What I want to know is...HOW do you actually bind? I tried with a bandage - wasn't long enough, and it's like gymnastics trying to wind it myself. 2nd time round I used my scarf (lol, yea...) and it flattened perfectly, but kept falling down or undoing itself.
So, main questions: 1. What should I use? (excluding sports bra XD) 2. How do I bind? 3. Do you normally get someone else to help?
I'm pretty flat as it is (I'm always mistaken for a dude) but I mean...they're still there. XD |

| I have a vest from Underworks - it's ok but I don't think it's that great. It's very hard to get on and off yourself without the help of someone to pull it down at the back!! Also if you happen to have a round tummy (as I do) it rides up to sit just under the bust instead of half way down like it should. All in all it's good but very tight and can dig into you around the arm holes. It seems to me that it'd be good for those who aren't that big (anywhere not just the bust). |

| Thanks for that review Sakura_petals! I've scoured the cosplay.com binding thread and found many similar responses. I think I will still get one as for my own needs I think it would be the most efficient method for me.
@Ravin: I think any type of binding would make you hot and sweaty wouldn't it? ...I get hot and sweaty just hanging out in my costumes lol.
And you say the smallest cup size is too big for you? Then you probably don't need to bind at all. I envy you XD I'm a C myself and I pretty much only crossplay (though I have only bound myself once with a homemade compression shirt) so binding/minimising is something I want to achieve. |

| Bindings an interesting subject from the male point of view since it's not exactly a problem for us. On the bandages falling down side of things tho, don't most girls using bandages run a couple of loops up over the shoulders aswell and then safety pin the bandage around the points where they loop off to help prevent that?
Provided it's not a costume that has the shoulders exposed anyway. |

| Bind tighter? if I just use bandages (not often, but I some times can't find my tape) I only go around the chest tightly and it stays up (I do have significantly larger breasts than you do but I think it's just you need to wrap it round tighter so it doesn't change anything) |

| Do you use tape to make it stick? I know it'd be totally invasive but I think I need to see it in action. XD |

| I usually open shirt bind even if I'm wearing something that completely covers my chest as I feel more secure. When I use bandages I just use them and safety pins to keep them closed (if I could be bothered facing the horror that is my massively untidy drawers to find stuff I'd show you what I mean but I swear those drawers eat things) |

| Is it possible to get nude coloured tape (not just strapping tape) to use for binding?
>> doing open shirt sasuke shippuuden cosplay and figured it would be less obvious than white tape i cant use strapping tape because its too painful to get off, especially for this type of binding >.< any suggestions? |

| You can get coloured tape from some pharmacies or sports stores, but I think it'd be better to put foundation or something on it, to make it more your own colour. Tapes have limited colours... |

i use elastic and i shape it so that it doesnt go over your waist and in hopes wont ride up. |

| Just a random question;;
When cosplaying 12 year old girls should I bind? because Sakura has quite a flat chest, whereas mine is a freaking D cup. should I bind? |

| I'm a D cup and I consider it necessary to bind for characters with smaller chests. But it's personal choice, if you think you should bind, bind. If you think you can do without, do without. =] |

| OUCH! My flat counterpart *cough*Wolfie-chan*cough* and I have decided it is best if I cosplay as girls as I am a D cup, and she does the boys... as i can not think of any other alternative to the painful procedure known as binding, and lets face it... theres hardly ANY anime/game boys that DONT wear tight clothing... well none that i know of anyway. I know this is a long shot... but is there any other way? LOL? |

Re: Women: Flattening the chest. By Guest. 20/02/10, 11:34 am |
| Am I missing something? Why does everyone say it hurts to bind? I may be quite small, but I still have 'em, and no matter how tight I bind, it doesn't hurt one bit. I feel confused...
Also, at Tsunami - try wearing a smaller-size sports bra if it DOES hurt too much, and then go for a looser-clothed character. Though they're often drawn with tight clothing - realistically, the fabric they wear would fall looser than it appears in the manga.
(I'm a nub at cosplay, but I know my character designs. XD) |

| It also doesn't hurt me... I'm pretty sure it should only hurt if you are doing it wrong and breathing wrong. The only way mine hurts is under my arms, my binding shirt tends to dig in under my arms and that hurts after a while but the actual binding doesn't. |

| Doesn't hurt me either although sometimes after wearing it for way to long (10hrs maybe) my ribs begin to feel a bit bruised whenever I breathe. She may have really sensitive breasts? but as Suixelo said it shouldn't hurt unless she's doing something not so right |
