[WCB09] Ball food! By Static. 06/10/08, 11:34 am |
| Hey guys! At the ball, we will require feeding. Lots of different kinds of feeding. As u_ne_korn said, we have some vegetarians and food allergies out there lurking, and peoples in white costumes - so we figure a list would be a Good Thing.
Ideas so far include:
Filled focaccia bread - tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and cheese in the filling (could do some without cheese if required) but the dough has potato, yeast, salt, etc etc bread dough stuffs. Lots of gluten, too.
Pizza, anybody? We could potentially do gluten-free versions of both this and the bread. I'd have to test it though.
Fried savoury pastries - and I do not mean bridge pies. I mean little om noms filled with egg and a bit of parsley and ricotta, or pretty much anything else savoury. These are freakin' amazing, btw - not too greasy and just so freaking GOOD.
A selection of veggies and dip, plus the obligatory chips what to dip in the dip.
Dessert - sweet nibbles? Cupcakes, little tarts, some fruit maybe?
So yeah, that's it for now - what else? And what allergies do we have? Or, if it's easier, what allergies DON'T we have? |

| Is this for planning to eat 'at' the ball, or a meal before/after? |

| I was thinking at rather than prior to - a sit-down dinner has a bit more potential for diaster! My dress will be black, but still - I have a gift for spilling anything that is spillable. |

| I think *at* the Ball - I think we decided a seperate dinner was hard to pull off if we made it at a seperate place (60 teenagers missioning through town anyone?) and it would be unfun and expensive to make dinner for 60. Snacks for 60 though, is easy, fun and can be distributed around several people's kitchens.
EDIT: and since we have to pass to cost on as tickets and people are gonna be destitute after making the costumes and missioning down from Wanganui... |

| Sweet. Depending on how the planning goes it might be worth seeing what the H!ACP people end up with. Current decision on that AFAIK is nibbles/snack food aswell, but I expect it's going to be leaning towards the shoestring budget side, and I don't know if it would get up to 60 people, so it stretches things a bit more. |

| Well, I hereby volunteer my services as budget-tasty-food-extraordinaire, and am perfectly happy to do a lot of cooking at my place and truck it in. All we'd really need then is some place to warm it up at the venue/keep it warm - I'm about ten minutes drive from St Andrews. |

| Whooo! You are hereby this cool: :batman:
My fav party food :
Deep-fried camembert with cranberry sauce. Baked creamcheese thing in bread Chips - I make no apology, I LOVE potato chips. Chocolate anything.
Also, at that time of year my little sister and fellow cosplayer may be able to get us stupidly cheap fruit including berries coz she works at a green-grocers.
And I have a recipie for rice-paper based summer rolls - no cooking and hopefully hypoallergenic enough. |

| *droool.* Yup, that stuff. My olds have a deepfrier I could lend if it would help. They've used it on that camembert stuff and those triangle samosas too and it worked a treat - it was much quicker than an oven. |

| Nope, no finalised details that i know of, although I believe there was discussion of ticketing, which would give a better idea on numbers. |

| Well, we have a few months up our sleeves. Biggest issue is the venue - from there we can sort everything else. Anybody know how that's going..? |

| We were looking at St Adrews on the terrace; u_ne_korn made noises about looking into it further but I think she's a bit snowed under with uni...it's ideal, being close to transport for everyone, and notoriously open minded XD |

| I was thinking tickets would be handy so that a) we have an idea of numbers and b) we know if we have enough to cover the costs.
And sorry, have not got around to emailing St Andrews yet, but classes have finished now and I have some spare brainspace. |
