[Dunedin] Dunedin Cosplay Club?

we haven't had one previously because there were so few of us in dunedin, but after getting a PM about maybe starting one up last week, i'm wondering if there's enough interest for us to have our own club now (kinda like the christchurch one, i suppose. 8D)

this thread is for discussion/to gauge interest!

what would you like to see from a dunedin club? what kinds of activities? how often would you like to meet? would you like to do sewing workshops (esp. in leadup to armageddons)?

I'm totes keen!!!!
Mum keeps telling me I need to make friends THAT LIVE IN DUNEDIN.
She wants me to get out and do stuff, rather than sit at home all the time. 8D So I'm totally keen! ^-^

As for what would be involved.... I'm up for anything. ^^
(I'm totally a n00b when it comes to groups. I've never been much of a group person. xD)

But yes, I would be keen. As for what we could do... Sewing parties? Organize random events? Meet once/a few times a month to expalin why we have been procrastinating? Baked goods?
I will be happy to provide baked goods. They have 'good' in them for a reason.

Ah, I would be very much be interested!
I don't know what most cosplay clubs do really! D: Can't be much help there sorry.
We could meet once a month? As a suggestion? Depending on how much time we have really (students in particular).
And sewing workshops would be AWESOME! Very Happy

A month is a really long tiem for somebody with nothing to do(me xD), but a very short time for a person with a bucketload of work to do(students/workers).
More than once a month would be nice... But that's just cos I'm like, boring and stuff. =O
Sewing workshops would be great, as would food. ^^
Other than that, I'm not posting anything really helpful. xD; Sorreh. =P

Id be keen to come up from Invers on weekends Im free.
Totally need sewing help with my costumes... patterns *fail*
and would love to do a Murder Mystery thingy there too.

Wow, awesome then! I think once a month is good- I know that I'll be too busy to meet up more often than that but don't let that stop you getting together with friends. As for a venue, not too sure but if I actually end up moving in the next few weeks we could hold it at my theoretical flat. Food is a go! And I'd be happy to help with sewing workshops, as I always find myself sewing Armageddon costumes alone... it's ronery.

I might be moving in the next few weeks, too. Into a MUCH bigger house if the owner picks us. There's already been a few others that have applied. Huge house, four bedrooms, two lounges... Y'know. xD So, I can offer my house IF I GET IT for meetups. =3

For manga shops, I think there's just Pop Fiction. And it only has a small shelf. University Book Shop stocks some but not many. As for anime, since we have no Real Groovy anymore (/laments) it's pretty much just The Warehouse as far as I know.
Also, I would be majorly keen for a muder mystery thing. Majorly.

there are two karaoke places that i know of in dunedin-- one's on princes street called 'k world' and the other is on... uhhh... the street over from st andrews st called vivace, opposite the side entrance to the meridian. imo k world is better/cheaper. |Db

okay sweet so we have a club. 8D FINALLY. DUNEDIN IS OFFICIAL. oh, and about karaoke, neither place requires ID unless you're buying alcohol. which you most likely won't be.

so what should we call ourselves? just the dunedin cosplay club? (DCC lmfao, what a pun.)

I SAY IN A MONTH-- gives us time to think of something to do/where to hold it/fiddle with costumes, plus university students have finals very soon & through most of june. and i know the high-schoolers are having midterms at the moment, i think?
