Weekly Qs #7: How do you store cosplays and supplies? By Duckeh. 29/01/13, 01:55 pm |
| How do you store cosplays and supplies?
Vacuum packed bags? Nifty hide away draws? Share your secrets.
I want to tidy up my space a bit, so I'm stealing yo ideas! At the moment my fabric is in slide trolley things in the garage & a lot of my costumes are in vac packed bags... But my threads, zips, patterns and ahrgh bits and pieces drive me cray-cray.
Cool ideas from the glorious internet:

| I have all my stuff in big plastic boxes, but I really want heaps of those six tire book shelves to colour code my fabric in to xD I really struggle to store my stuff well, I have so much crap that it just sorta goes everywhere. I have all my thread in these like, cardboard kinda pull out draw things, a bit like the ones in that first photo xD. I would so love to have an awesome way of organising everything! I love organisation, but my house really isn't set up for it ): |

| On the floor of my little sewing room at the moment, mostly I have two wooden poles along two walls (attached with shelve bracket things) to hang my cosplays on with clothes hangers, and then big plastic containers for material etc. I need to figure out a way to store my wigs, though, as well as my tools/paint brushes/random stuff. |

| @Duckeh wow in those pictures everything looks SO clean it hurts my eyes.
I'm not nearly as organised. I kind of chuck each cosplay in a plastic bag and store it in a box under my bed. Same deal with my fabric. My nicer cosplays like dresses and jackets go in the closet with my normal clothes. Other sewing stuff goes in multiple plastic containers and big sewing box.
My wigs take up 2 whole drawers! Like a third of my clothes space *_* I have so many wigs, and just keep getting more!!

| I don't have much space unfortunately finished stuff hangs in my wardrobe, but fabric and other sewing supplies are squeezed in wherever I can fit it. It makes it quite difficult to know exactly what I have! What I would do for a sewing room, or even a decent sized table dedicated to sewing... |

| i'm gonna be honest, i generally just shove everything into the closet ;; i'm totally awful at storing things nicely
Except for my wigs! I put them all on hooks or on wig heads on my shelves, or tucked away somewhere carefully. Gotta take care of those wigs uwu |

| Some in my room, some in my art stufio/spare room, I've got a big cupboard in the garage to store all my cosplay construction stuff. Mum is big on everything being organised so she keeps buying boxes for me to shove stuff into so it looks at least a little bit tidy. I used to keep my completed cosplays in bags I made out of the scrap material used for that costume, but then I discovered the wrinkle/crease factor when I pulled them out to be used so now I hang everything in the spare bedroom wardrobe lol |

| I store all my cosplay clothes in one big box in my closet and all my wigs go in one drawer ^^" my parents are big on tidyness so they don't wanna see lots of wig stands out or clothes lying about ><"
My mom is the one that keeps the fabric and sewing stuff away (she's a real neat freak so she doesn't want me messing up those things XD ) She has a lot of plastic cases with the different compartments for those :'3
If you're keen on tidying up and have quite a few cosplays you don't think you'll re-wear or fabrics you won't be needing again, you could always sell them off to make space for new stuff? :'3 (that's what I did for a lot of my wigs >3< ) |

| I store my cosplays on hangers in my closet and all my fabric in a plastic storage container. Wigs go on wigstands or are in plastic ziplock bags on the bottom tier of my bookshelf. We don't have a lot of room at my flat but I'm planning on investing in a desk and sewing box etc to move some stuff into the lounge c: |

| Most of my cosplay stuff is in my sewing room, and one rack of shoes in my bedroom. Costumes go in the wardrobe and on a garment rack (cos I ran out of space in the wardrobe). Wigs that aren't heavily styled stay in their plastic bags in a box in the wardrobe. I have two sets of plastic drawers, one that holds all my fabric and the other has patterns and odds and ends in it. I want to get a tall cupboard to go in the lounge... |

| 2 words. Damp Rid. (or the knock-off $2shop equivalent "Dehumidifier")
Seriously, wherever you put your cosplays put at lest one of these things in with it (and check it once a month!).
Mould is your biggest enemy. I have to be especially careful with Kaz to let him air out for a day before i put him back into storage. |

| I burn them.
Giant plastic containers with wheels! I had three or four of the big ones for cosplay/sewing stuff. |
