| ^^ thank you!
The stamps are pictures from the manga and anime that I cropped, resized, added the number and then printed out so I could glue them onto the letters. |

| Currently working on as of 23/3/13: -Hit Girl from Kick Ass, the movie.
I've finally made an actual start on making Hit Girl now. The fabric I bought for it has been sitting around for nearly 2 years The fabric is 'midnight' coloured cotton shantung which I stuck in a bucket of purple dye for a couple of hours to give it a purple tinge.
So far I have made the sleeves for the jumpsuit:
I sewed cord onto a backing of cotton poplin to make the ridged band above the elbow, and the elbow pad is made from craft foam, covered with cotton drill. |

| The top part of the jumpsuit is now pretty much done:
The front parts of the pants are also done:
The flash and the carpet make the fabric look more blue than it actually is. |

| Hit Girl's jumpsuit is finally done. Making this turned out to be more of a headache then I expected. It looks a bit funny as it is, so I hope it will look better once the skirt, belt and cape are done XD

| The cape is coming along. Getting a lined cape to hang really nicely is a lot more difficult than I expected. The cape still needs hemming, I've just finished trimming the hem so that it's straight.

| I think I get more cosplay work done when I'm off work unwell. Almost makes me appreciate getting mild food poisoning...almost.
So today I played with Wonderflex for the first time and used it to make Hit Girl's mask.
And then I covered it in fabric and voila!

| So for the last couple of weekends I've been working on Hit Girl's belt. It's made from two layers of EVA foam glued together, and covered with PVC fabric. The belt buckle is also EVA foam painted up with acrylic paints.
All the little pouches are made using three layers. One PVC, one cotton (for the lining) and one interfacing.
The the cylindrical...things at the front are made from toilet rolls.
And the finished product:

Hit Girl's kilt is now done. I splashed out and bought the real kilt fabric from the UK and it was totally worth it. Had to dye it purple first though.

| The last two days have been spent making Hit Girl's double bladed spear thing. Found a great video on YouTube which helped with the general method for making such a weapon. I just had to swap the metal bits for Wonderflex.
First up the blades were made:
Made with double layered Wonderflex which flares out at the bottom to make a socket. There is a strip of EVA foam down the middle.
Then aluminium foil tape was used to cover the blade. They're so shiny!
Then the blades and a bayonet kind of thing were attached to the wooden dowel part. Blood was shed to the cosplay gods during this part. My screwdriver slipped and went into my thumb. Must have gone into a place that doesn't have any nerve endings as it didn't hurt when it happened and still doesn't hurt 3 hours later...sweet.
Then the shafts were wrapped with cotton tape to finish!
And that means the costume is now finished and ready for a test run to make sure everything looks good together. |

| Those blades are so great! How did you get the foil tape to appear so seamless? The 'metal' looks very real in the photo. Can't wait to see in real life. |

| Thank you! The foil tape just blended into itself so well, and it all just shines uniformly even if you do have some seams. So in photos they look really good but if you look at them up close in real life you can see the seams in the foil. I couldn't be happier with the effect; first time I've ever used the stuff. And it was only $7 for 50m |

| Hit Girl is now finished:
Can't wait to wear it to Auckland Armageddon -----
Now I am working on: -The Mask, The Mask (1994)
The coat has been made, finished 6/10/13.
Made from some nice cheap mango yellow fabric I found in the LA fabric district. The dots on the lining were hand painted onto silk lining. As the yellow fabric is a bit see-through I double-layered the lining, using regular sunsilky lining as the second layer. So that has minimised the visibility of the dots through the yellow.

| Well I did finish the mock-up for Glitch's coat and found out that that style of coat really doesn't suit me at all So I decided not to do Glitch in the end.
When I was a kid, as far as I was concerned, that zoot suit was the coolest thing ever. Loved the cartoon and the yellow suit was his main outfit if I remember correctly. So awesome to finally be making it |

Re: [Kyokyogirl's Sketchbook] Making it up as I go along... By kyokyogirl. 22/12/13, 07:56 am |
| So I lost interest in The Mask for the moment. Still working on the pants; which need lining, hemming and a waistband.
In the meantime I decided to upgrade an old costume. Character ref:
- Spoiler:
The costume was originally made in 2009. Looking back on it now I feel like I could do a much better job of it today XD So first up I remade the pants.:
On the left are the old pants, made from two layers of cotton poplin and elasticated hems (which I now loath). The new ones on the right are made from cotton sateen, a much nicer brighter shade, and they are a much looser, baggier fit than the old ones.
Next I plan to remake the top, which I think will work better as a leotard as I got really annoyed with the old one always coming un-tucked. |

| So I decided to make something from Dragonball Z. My favourite Bulma outfit:
Bought some leggings and a long sleeve black top from Glassons and some cheap shoes from The Warehouse to make covers for. |

My wig is ordered and should turn up in time for the Wellington Cosplay Ball. |

| Actually had some motivation today! So I have made the shirt for The Mask. Still needs buttons/button holes but otherwise done. The only really interesting bit about the shirt is the collar...so collar!
And with the coat and tie:
(doesn't fit well on the model as it cut to fit me in a compression vest XD ) |
