Christmas; 2007 [Poem]

With Christmas upon us, I've decided to spread some cheer to those who feel down and out, lonely or just plain bad. :)

With that, I present to you a poem.

Christmas; 2007

While the gifts may still need wrapping
And the friends feel both near and far
And the tree light's aren't yet shining
For your work schedule keeps them dark

While the family might still be crying
About the relatives being away
From this city; this country; this life
Their chairs empty on the day

While the office becomes dark and gloomy
And you're left on your desk on the eve
Before the merry occasion
Simply wishing for a reprieve

Although the sun is setting
On the 24th;
No fear!
For though Christmas is coming
You'll soon be rid of the run-up...
At least, until next year.

And while your Christmas may seem crappy
And you heart may not be gay
A short way around the corner
Lies a better holiday

This poem is written especially for Juliette and Angie, wishing them a very merry New Years (Timaru! YEAH!)

And hopefully, despite the fact they're feeling crappy about it; also a very merry Christmas.

My christmas poem
(written just then)

Christmas is but once a year
do i care that you're not hear?
Is it your sweet voice i long to hear
And in your arms to be held near?

in silence will i shed a tear
And think of you alone in fear?
you and me are pretty rare
so why oh why then do i care?
