Your first anime/manga?

What was your first anime/manga that got you started?

For me, it was Dragon Ball Z. When I was 11, my life revolved around friends, Neopets, and Dragon Ball Z nyahaha

Oh DBZ was definitely an early one for me too..

I really couldn't say what the first one was- it had to be pokemon/ digimon/ card captors/ super pig/ DBZ/ whatever xD One of those 4kidsy imports.

My first manga, I think, was Fruits Basket. At least, I'm pretty sure I remember that was the one where I first had to learn to read backwards.

oh actually, true first one was sailor moon when I was like 7, I had sailor moon shoes! But totally didn't know it was anime Razz

first anime I really really enjoyed was Haruhi, but since then I've been corrupted and like most stuff lol (up til recently i tried to convince myself that all anime was rubbish)

Oh my gosh, mine must have been Sailor Moon as well! I totally forgot about that show! I knew the themesong and everything.

Digimon does rock. =D I was always a Digimon girl in the epic Digi vs Poke war.

Mine was Samurai Pizza Cats. Or maybe Sailor Moon. Hmm, can't remember. I think they were on at around about the same time anyway.

First anime was Pokemon, back when I was four. =D

My first cosplay was actually Ash, if I remember correctly... For my fifth birthday party, which was fancy dress. Good times, good times...

First manga was Chrno Crusade, vol. 4. <3333

Anime: Samurai Pizza Cats. Would always rush to catch a view in the morning before primary started.

Manga: Slamdunk and DragonBall Z. In chinese no less, on a trip to china back in '96.

Pokemon. I was a HUGE pokemon fanboy. My friends actually called me the Pokemaniac if I recall (which is of course a reference to Bill, from Red/blue/yellow).

Though that was before I knew what anime was. the first show I ever watched in japanese and subbed was Naruto, promptly followed by .hack//sign.

The first anime I ever watched was samurai pizza cats and sailor moon, but I didn't know that they were anime at the time. Then I watched shinzo/dbz/pokemon etc - still didn't know them as 'anime', just as 'cartoons'.
So the first one I knew that was 'anime' was probably FMA when it was on cartoon network ... oO which is quite recent when you think about it lol
And the first anime I watched that was in Japanese (eng sub) would have been at the anime tribe, which would have been... ... D.N.Angel

my first manga I bought was vol 1 gatekeepers, but the first one I collected was MeruPuri followed by Pick of the Litter (I'll just mention it cause its my fav lol)

edit: seeing pyro put pokemon when she was 4 makes me feel oh so very old lmao~
that reminds me I guess my first cosplay was Jessie? with my friend being James though by cosplay I mean putting a R on our tops... okay so it was more 'play' in cosplay. We were doing the team rocket song for a um... performance thing (no not at school lol)
but actually during those times, at school I was collecting science badges and I remember going "YES I WON A BADGE" like Ash does... hahaha memories xD

I watched Card Captor Sakura when I was younger, and that was my first 'anime' although, I didn't have any idea what anime was. I just thought it was asian cartoons of people with big eyes. Then later on, Pokemon, Sailor Moon and DBZ, although I STILL didn't know anything about anime/manga. : B
But the anime/manga that made me discover the whole world of anime/manga/cosplay was Love Hina. I was SERIOUSLY obsessed with that. XD

well the first anime was pokemon on tv but i didn't know it was anime,
the first thing that i knew was anime was Bleach,
and when i got to the end of the anime and wanted to go on with the story i started reading the manga

The first one I saw was Cardcaptor Sakura which was shown daily on TV, then Pokemon et al. I also didnt put 2 and 2 together about why I liked it Razz

....And the first one where I actually sought it out beacuse it was anime was Love Hina! Weird!

I only got into Love Hina because there was Vol 1 of it at the library. I wanted to read it because it was 'backwards' >_>

oh yeah, of course, I watched Samurai Pizza Cats when I was little, but back then didn't count it as anime either, just cartoons. (watched a little pokemon, liked SOME of it too)

I watched pokemon and cardcaptors and saw the odd bit of dragonball z... the first show I watched knowing it was anime (and in japanese) lol, was actually naruto /blush

Though I actually blame avatar for getting me into anime ^_^

Oh and my first manga was Chrono Crusade chuu~!

Not counting Voltron, my first anime were Project A-ko and Dominion Tank Police, late 80's FTW.

I still love Project A-ko a lot more than most other anime!

What really annoys me when people say what anime they watched first is when they say all the old stuff that was on TV. EVERYONE watched those.

It should be "what anime got you into anime", like how did you find out it about it, and then what one did you watch first?

*sigh*

Anyway, five-years-old, Pokemon and Digimon. Eight, I watched CCS (<3), then ... uhm ... nine I watched Yu-Gi-Oh and DBZ. And then while I was still obsessed with YGO (OBSESSED.), I found out about anime because my sister bought a 'How to draw Manag' book, and then when I was 11 she got a DVD of Chobits from her friend, and then I bought .hack//SIGN DVDs ^__^.

First manga was ... Escaflowne ... It was stupid. Sold it ages ago. And then I bought .hack//Legend of the Twlight at the first Armageddon I went to.

The first anime for me was CardCaptor Sakura. I decided before I went to Geddon I might want to educate myself a little in Geekyness before I went last year. XD I know, I know, it's not something like Megaman or Pokemon or DBZ or Sailor Moon - I was never home in time for those shows, and constantly shunned them as I had a low opinion of them, without actually trying them. I'm weird like that. >< But yeah, I often refused to watch them. Razz

I'm a late bloomer? XD

First manga was... Bizenghast. Though, technically that's not manga as it's published by an American. Razz

I saw the pretty art two years ago and thought ooooh~! and proceeded to buy it. I had no clue what manga was back then, I just thought it was a style of drawing. But if you want to be really picky, my first "real" manga was.. uhm.. Ghost Stories, I believe, from the school library. And it was boring. >> First "real manga" purchase then it was KH at Geddon last year. And it's just spiralled down from there.. In less than I year I've accumulated 82 volumes. >> And want mooore. ;o

My first anime was Sailor Moon, when I was like, less than 5?
But then Pokemon and Digimon came along.
If Flint the Time Detective counts, that too at some point. I still remember the exact first ime I watched it.
And dont even get me started on my YuGiOh fandom.
My first anime that i knew was anime was either Naruto or Ouran High School Host Club.
