| Hey hey :) Is there anyone from CNZ SPCC who wants to organise a stand? Best if it is someone who is either a mod here or a member of SPCC (any committee members up here?) so as to have an official aspect to it.
Tami is happy for it to happen but needs someone to talk with in the next day if possible but otherwise just a big congregation of cosplayers is fine :)
I'm off to a meeting with Tami today and she is super excited by the event, I mean super. Lots of stuff planned and I'm hoping I can plan around the timetable to have a good workshop available :)
Speaking of which I would love to see peeps there, I can loan a few pieces on the day, or if you have a mannequin to help me set up a display that would also be great :) I have two but could do with a few more |

| Oh! I would love to, will talk about it with the other mods and check it's all fine for us to do as much. SPCC is all based in wellington, I think, though I could still ask if they want anything on the table?
Excited too! Hohoho. Dress making mannequins okay? I can ask a few people. As for costumes... I'm not too sure what I will wear and I'm not sure if anything of yours would fit me? Will look through cosplay closet tonight though. P:
UPDATE:
- Spoiler:
We have been given 6 Nerf N-Strike Maverick's by Hasbro that will be steampunked in a demonstration put on by Allister Whyte and Topmark Products at MOTAT on the 12th.

The last one will be returned to Hasbro as a thanks for their support.

| You will need to contact the new events co-ordinator, like with Wellygeddon space is a premium and there is juggling that goes on ;)
oh yes please :) dress forms are great but they are so much more than dress shop ones that I don't blame anyone for not being able to help if they have one :) I'll email the venue again to see if they have any I can borrow as it would be helpful all around to just use what is on site.
And while I don't think it needs reminding here, I said I'd get this out there: this is even more of a family show than Geddon and the education for kids is their main focus. So think G rather than PG for costumes.
I'm hoping to have my Hunting outfit done, and spruced to be all steam punky :) So trip to K Rd Army Disponsal is in order.
Ideas on what to wear... A lot of Steampunk is based on late Vctorian sportwear for men and women.
I love this group: http://steamfashion.livejournal.com/1196047.html There are elements I recognise from fashion history but then it is twisted either more or less. And swapping of materials for modern and unexpected ones
http://steamfashion.livejournal.com/791377.html This is a cute quick tutorial for a skirt that can be punked. It actually works mundanely as it follows fashion lines.
A vest and shirt is great for men and women.
And yeah, raiding the Army Disposals place is great. Goggles galore.
I love this ;) This is from a 1907ish magazine artcle about how to dress for motoring. I need to scan the full article actually.
Some more ideas, a mix of bathing costumes, sportwear and day wear for the period most often looked at for Steampunk:
I also have a link to books for men's gear, including patterns so I just need to them... http://www.costumes.org/HISTORY/100pages/1893to1898cuttersguide.htm Uniforms and sportwear, jackets and trousers.. it's an amazing resource for even beyond historical and Steamy wear :)
Also don't go past Western wear as a source of inspiration. elements work really well, space cowboys and all ;) http://www.costumes.org/classes/fashiondress/western_wearblip.htm

I picked up a few bits and pieces today. Hopefully I can actually figure out how to work suspenders! And find a flight cap! |

| I am in desperate need of help. Help needed is no longer available so if anyone wants a free victorian bodice pattern fitted to them let me know. I will just need help getting to and from the venue (large load of costumes to dislay). Then use you as a fitting demo and the rest of the time is yours.
PM me here with your email and I'll get back to you. |
