I totally just bought two caricature-Elvis wigs. One to make a Gamzee (which I currently have tied up and looking seriously freaky in the corner of my room) and one for an Eridan. I also made their horns out of hula-hoops, need to get some red/orange/yellow fabric though...
Also will need the rest of their outfits. And I need to choose which because both is unlikely to happen knowing me.

Yeah, cut the sides where I then could stretch them into more dramatic curves. Eridan's were easiest, I just cut & stuck bits together lmao.
These Elvis wigs!v homg, they are amazing! I totally suggest them to everyone. They're at that perfect level of crappiness that they're easy to mould into sprite-accurate spikes. If they didn't have glue on them to begin with they'd be perfect, but ah well. It's not much, I could pick most of it off. But uuuuugh I am making Gamzee's hair right now! SO FUN!
I don't mean to honk my own horn or anything, but it's looking pretty damn awesome so far! Got most of the right side done today. My parents are painting the house and the computer with the camera USB is down, but I'll have pics tomorrow. Very Happy

Bahh now I've gotten to the stage where I SO WANNA TRY IT ON but don't wanna mess it up... How do you actually get it to stay? Is there some kinda heavy-duty hair spray out there? :C

hairspray, definitely. any ol' strong-hold hairspray would do, i use the $8 bottle that i got for my own hair. forgot what brand it is, it's a huge black spray-can that comes with 20% extra/free/whatever. works well enough for me, it's what i used on this wig so i can vouch for its holding power. (the user rikki-leigh uses this sugar honey iced tea (or at least used to two years ago) so you can defo find it in auckland.)

lol thanks, it was just a wig test though haha. i photoshopped the skintone and facepaint in 'cause i'm still waiting for mine to arrive. and yes, it's a pikachu keychain haha.

oh gog that is amazinggg~ I'll just stroll down to the shops and see if there's any good hairspray like that, I doubt I'll happen to find the exact same brand but they can't all be that different. Thanks man! Very Happy

nah, don't bother about brand bro, anything that's labelled as maximum or strong hold should do. :3 i kind of cycle through brands because i just go for whatever is the cheapest and still of decent quality.

They actually look really good! o.o All I'd say is move them lower down a little. But srs that's awesome! What are they attached to? That's also what I forgot to ask Tangent, how do you do that? :O
And at first I thought party hats. I thought that was pretty gog damn awesome. Someone should make troll horns from party hats. ;u;

it was cardboard, curled into horn shapes, wrapped with duct tape and then i coloured in the duct tape with sharpies hahahaha! i attached them to my wig with bobby pins =w=b and yeah, i did move them down a big, they shifted during the day.

if you've got something a little heavier though, you should probably use a headband and glue them on?

ohhh i see what you mean by your horns now!

my horns are wired together (not sure if you can see the wire here, the photo is really low-quality) and i kind of stick them through the wig so the wire is sitting against my head? not sure if that made any sense though.
i've just cut off the exposed wire on my gamzee horns though, they're too heavy and tall to wear just like that, i'm going to glue them onto a headband that goes underneath the wig. /not fond of exposed headbands

caddyl, one of my friends from back home is planning a doc scratch cosplay (not sure when), i could ask him for pointers if you want? he's done TRON and daft punk cosplays before so he might even do the lighting effects for his doc scratch cosplay... not sure if you'd want that though.
in any case, i'd probably be thinking a helmet (lol for a lack of a better word...), possibly with a neckpiece to hold it up if you're going for more of the look of your avatar? if not, if you're going for a neck-less look more like in the actual comic, omit the neck-piece and have it sit directly on your shoulders? idk i'm just theorizing oTZ oTZ oTZ

re: gamzee's horns, i think they're bicycle horns? try a bike shop or sth?
alternatively, there are some for sale on ebay

I had a ball in all these fabric stores with my birthday money the other day, got stuff for both costumes. IT WAS EXPENSIVEEE. But I learnt a lot about different fabrics, I'd guess lycra, possibly spandex, would be good for that... Maybe a bit hot though xP but don't trust me on that, I don't know for sure.

i'd say something non-stretch, something weightier than plain cotton. i'd use drill, but you may want something slightly lighter than that idk. i don't know the names of a lot of fabrics so i can't say what for certain, just go around and touch fabrics until you find something that feels right?
