| First thing to do would be to find a simple corset pattern. |

| First of all, it doesn't look like a typical corset. No traditional corset will be that short. Its more of a modern 'corset style' midriff boob-tube. The picture seems to make the lacing look weird. Is it meant to be on the side, or against her spine? If its meant to be at her side, then a corset pattern may not work well.
Before you endeavour to look for corset patterns, keep in mind that there are many different types of corsets, and they give different shapes. A lot of corsets patterns online don't show the end result of the corset -- make sure you know what the end result looks like, or you'll end up with a completely different garment than what you wanted!
Also, bear in mind that traditional corsets are tailored to an individual's measurements, so just printing a random pattern from the internet may not work. I guess you could cheat in this area if you just used a material with stretch in it. However, from the picture, the top looks like it's made from some sort of latex material, and I'm not sure if you can find stretchy latex easily. I read once on cosplay.com that the Americans would have to go to adult stores to get it. >.>
Lastly, if you're going to cosplay as that, I suggest you take a big coat with you or something if you're going to be walking in the city at night, because it simply going to get you too much unwanted attention. o.< |

LOL I would love to find an adult store that sold latex by the bolt! |

This. Then all you have to do is edit it to be shorter and make it lace up at the under arm seam. I do stress that you use a pattern though. I tried to make a corset-like bodice and royally screwed up the shape across the chest. |

| Hmn, maybe not even strictly a corset pattern. Browse some pattern books and see what you can find? A modern teenager top might have the shaped boob bit you need, and then you can modify it slightly if there's no corset laceup included in the pattern (so you have the cut the pattern early at the sides to leave space for it). |

| Right, I've done you one better.
Here's a corset pattern of mine. It is originally in the 1900's dancer style corset (like Moulin Rouge dancers, etc.) And you see the green corset down the bottom, that's how it turns out like. But it can easily be changed as you can see on the white dress. That's the same pattern. This pattern has 1cm seams on it so those little flicky bits on the centre fron are meant to be there.
Now in the second picture, that's how I would change the corset. It might be easier to make it up and then cut it down and pin it in other than try and do the edited one straight away, because you can always cut fabric off, but it's annoying and messy to try and sew more on. The best wasy to edit it is make it up first and mark the changes with a vivid or pen.
The blue line shows that you will want to take fabric off the top and bottom of the pattern. You might also want to add some extra fabric onto the front breast piece depending on what figure you have. But you will definately want to curve the front piece to the shaping on meiko's corset, including the gap in the front. That looks like she has a zip in the front so that will probably be the way you will get in and out of the corset, so as you can see the back pieces down the bottom, you can make that into one mirrored piece if you want less panels.
It's always good to line corests, it will make it easier to put in any boning you want if you want to, underwire for the cups.
Also, a little tip. I don't know what size you are, but that one fits me and I'm size 14ish with broad shoulders. If you need to take it in/out, make sure you so it evenly around the corset, don't take it all from one seam as this will warp the seam lines.
You can post pictures as you make it and we can tell you how you are going if you are unsure of something.
Anything else I have forgotten guys? |

| I personally think going proper corset isn't the only option for this. What I've done is draw a rough diagram of the main pieces for what I'd do if it were me.
Of course This skips the lacing for the side but once you have the pieces cut and sewn individually, you'd sew in the zip for the front centre of the top and add the eyelets to put the lacing through.
- Spoiler:
Sorry it's not very good, don't have my tablet with me and am about to go out but I wanted to try and help cause I love Hagane Meiko's design. |
