Packing List for Conventions By JVCA. 15/03/11, 11:45 am |
| So, in my procrastination this evening, I have come up with these - convention packing lists for cosplayers and non-cosplayers. Each is designed to be printed easily on A4, and in black and white so as not to waste ink.
They can be downloaded from my dA, here: http://jvca.deviantart.com/art/Convention-Packing-Lists-201027931

| Fantastic Lists
Here are some extras:
Glad you listed bandaids - insoles, Heel grips, shoe petals, party feet, type products if you are wearing unpractical shoes!
Aloe Vera/solacaine/sooothe/topical anesthetic -Someone will always get sunburnt, always. I burnt my UPPER LIP the night before a con using an delipitory creme I hadn't tried before (I left it on far too long) , these also work for insect bites and other minor annoyances.
Cotton buds- if you dip these in makeup remover they allow you to do very fine touch ups wihtout having to re-do your whole face
A good paperback you have read before, enough to be entertaining, not so good you stay up late reading it!
Extra plastic bags
I like nail polish for touching up props I've painted with spray paint - tiny but potent!
A pen! - I always meet people at cons then forget the email address they told me write it down
If you are wearing stockings or pantyhose, bring a backup pair in case of runs- esp if they are sheer
Berocca - I like the stuff with a hefty dose of vitamin B

| Thanks for the suggestions, Mischa - super helpful! Especially the Berocca - I never thought of that, but I should start doing that myself. |

| This looks awesome! Very comprehensive and useful.
I second the thing about bringing extra stockings; at ACB I put ladders in two pairs just getting them on, so I was really glad I had a third pair! (I'm not used to really thin ones haha).
It'll be good to check stuff off this list rather than making my own and leaving something off. At Wellygeddon '10 I forgot my contact lenses, and at the WCB I forgot my costume blouse orz and had to get it mailed to me. |

Re: Packing List for Conventions By Pyro. 15/03/11, 01:37 pm |
| I always bring a book/my PSP/iPod or something along those lines-- it's not an 'essential', per say, but I find it's always good to have something small to entertain yourself when going through inevitable queues or if you've got downtime. While I know a lot of people think 'OMG CON I WILL NEVER BE BORED', sometimes you can have very long waits for signings or getting inside, and it's always nice to be able to stay entertained.
Otherwise, YAY OMG LIST OF EVERYTHING EVER! <3 You rock, Jess. Thanks for this-- I have a default list of stuff I always need similar to this, but there are still bits and bobs here I've never thought to add like a jacket to fit over costumes (not that my outfits generally leave rooms for extra coats...) and emergency contact details. =D |

Re: Packing List for Conventions By RainbowMoonDust. 21/03/11, 04:09 pm |
| Hmmm, how about adding blush/bronzing powder to the make up section, essential if you are pale like me, to avoid looking washed out. A hairdryer should probably be added to said list as well, not only good for drying your hair when you're in a rush but handy for drying other things too, like paint etc.
This list is handy and well thought out, saves me from having to write out my own, thanks Jess! |

| Hairdryer I didn't think of, but depending on where you're staying, may be available anyway (that's why I didn't put 'iron' on the list, lol). Bronzer I count as a type of foundation, personally, but that's why there are extra lines in the make-up section. In any case, it was just an exercise for that evening, so I'm not gunna go back and change it now.
No problem! |

| Sorry, I got the impression that you wanted people to add suggestions, just trying to help. I forgot that some places supply hairdyers, irons too, lol. |

| The original post was asking for suggestions, but that was before I actually produced the thing, hahah. XD No worries though, I get that you were just trying to help. Maybe when I get a little free time (uuuuugghhh uni) I'll do a few touch ups. |
