views on cosplaying as an animal, i.e pokemon digimon etc By yummas. 10/04/11, 01:56 pm |
| I was just thinking about this after hearing about a Digimon cp group at wellington this year.
How far would you go as dress up wise if you were going to be a poke/digimon or any other animal character, would you go all out ,yah know, full on (looks like said character ) or would you go for a more of an a humanoid approach, your rendition of them would be if they were a real person
*note not attempting to discriminate against furry fans just wondering |

| Personally I would rather do a sort of human take on the Digimon. I think I would adapt clothing to look similar to the Digimon and add ears or the appropriate make up for it. I guess I just love clothing adaptations of things. |

| For me, it depends on the character. Like, for Weregarurumon, I'm using the fursuit style. But for a lot of pokemon, I do gijinka/humanoid style. |

| Oh? If i was Cosplaying like that, if i was Cosplaying as a Gijinka i would go more of a cute human look, but i would try my best to look as close as the Pokemon/Digimon/other So people can actually tell what type of Pokemon/Digimon/other that you are
For a full costume: If i had enough money...(which i don't ^^;) i would make/buy a Pokemon costume which covers from head to toe
Groups: This differs, if you want a group of: e.g Pokemon: People who cosplay as Pokemon main go for the Gijinka style of cosplaying..well that's them..very few go 'full' costume..due to many reasons: Not enough fabric/money
yep..i'm glad if this helps ^

| I did a humanised version of shaymin this year... I think if you do decide to do a humanised version then you have to make it detailed with accessories etc. E.g if you showed up wearing yellow and pikachu ears it wouldn't be as good as if you had the suit... But Shaymin is also known as a "bride" aka lots of white. Plus it has the gracedia flower which to people who know about it is distinguishable... |

| I think humanoid versions of things are a great take someone can do while cosplaying.
Most of the characters probably have a key item or feature about them that makes people go 'yep thats a ...... ' and if you have that reflected and the general colour as well it will be easy for fans and what not to pick out.

| I think that gijinka, kigurumi (the pj type things, not the creepy mask cosplays) or fursuit are all fine. It isn't difficult to incorporate a monster's features into your costume and as long as you are recogniseable as what you are cosplaying then it is fine.
I personally, if I were to make a poke/digi/animal costume would do it gijinka style. I don't have skillsto make a suit and in both a suit or kigurumi I fear I would overheat as I'm quite sensitive to temperature. |

| I think if differs on the effect you want really. While a full fursuit or head and pj option gives you a real alike look with the original it may be a bit much and lack the creativity you can get designing a gijinka. Some of the gijinka outfits look really good, simply because of detail, and some seem to loose a lot of pokemon'ness'. That said I think quite a few of the pokemon would be hard if not impossible to do without gijinka designs. I prefer gijinkas just for creativity but honestly I'd rather see fursuits of characters like Crash because it's just not as cool without that head. Personal preference to each really some people go for fursuit accuracy.
I would probably go with a whole fursuit depending on what I was cosplaying say a digimon like Guilmon but like I did for Roselia I wouldn't create a suit for that because there's creativity to be had from the design. |
