I don't know about you, but I was chucked into the fandom /just building out of SHAFT + Magical girl + Gen Urobuchi hype/ before the series even started, and I've witnessed the progression of fan opinions as this series went along. From the beginning, there were many people that disliked Madoka... especially coming up to episode 3 and 4. People criticized her all over the place for crying, or being useless, or not making a wish and doing anything. It can't be helped, and the script was also built around glorifying her at the end. Not until episode 10 did some fans of this series actually believe that she was good for anything. I know personally that Madoka was disliked and labelled as 'useless' by quite a few of the fanbase before they finished the series. I'm not saying that she was 'useless' in any way, I always liked Madoka. The key is that she didn't make a wish until the very end of the series. I know people who kept thinking that Madoka was a useless girl until around episode 10/11. That's a pretty long time. - Quote :

Ah, I see what you mean now. I avoided the fandom, so I wouldn't know.
For me, I've always thought Madoka was someone with limitless potential because of the fact that we knew practically nothing about her despite of her being the main character. She just came across to me as someone who could either proved to be a complete dumbass, or a game breaker.
While I wasn't exactly surprised that she turned out to be the game breaker, I was absolutely floored at how watertight her wish was. In essence it's what many would go for yet the way she worded it made it something completely free of loopholes. By the way, because it also meant far less energy for Kyuubey, that was a good finger flipping as well.
I am just... Madoka, I am not worthy.

Also, Urobushi Gen is misunderstood. He writes about Love and Courage, just in a very... roundabout way with some unfortunate consequences, like dead girls or turning humanity into monsters. |

I just finished watching it now that uni has stopped being assignment central.
Wow!
It's so incredibly good depsite it being incredibly depressing. The only thing I don't like about it: there's not more of it.
I loved how it fit so well into the magical girl genre while completely smashing it to bits.
