Churr I was avoiding clip-on pigtails. Wanted something that looked like a Maka hairstyle but natural at the same time.

Took me a while to get this right, surprisingly. Cut a whole lot off the bottom, added in a few minor layers, cut & styled the fringe. RIKU WIG = COMPLETE. Razz

Oh poo, my materials test was a failure The paint+medium mix doesn't react as well to the stretch lycra I got for my bodysuit as it does to the plain cotton.

What happens if you make a body-suit out of cotton? Do you turn into a saggy gargoyle?

A 4 way stretch knit cotton may look naff. T-shirt cotton however less so, and still should have enough stretch. And they screen paint it.

My progress, none. Under the circumstances I am too busy to finish anything before Welly I think. (We do have one fabric shop open!) Just a matter of priorities.

I've nearly finished my wing harness - just needs some Velcro.
Then I was happily sawing away with flatmates awesome little jig-saw and I broke the blade, so I can't do any more sawwing until I get some more. But I managed the Mark 1 stilt for one foot, and hopefully I can finish the second one tomorrow, and then go test them.

I have 'decided' my cosplay plans for Welly based off the fabric I have (due to next to no fabric store being open and not much $$$).

Sketched my designs and altered the patterns I have accordingly. (sorry no camera or scanner)

^yes there is one store open. They are on the other side of town and I don't have very much money for fabric ~~or petrol~~ so I decided to just go with what I had ^_^;

Currently Fabric Vision Papanui is the only one confirmed open. Possibly that new one Morelands on Moorhouse, O don't know, but doubt it.

Hands is open for crafts supplies.

Minifes site says cashel st is open.

I have started a thread so we can keep up to date.

Several shops will shift as soon as they can to new premises.

I had some white fabric I didn't need to use anymore so I made Ranka Lee's white dress from Macross frontier. Still need to take in the bodice and fix up some issues with the large amount of elastic all over it =D Oh, and It still needs the pink lace trim~

So I've almost finished Tenten's backpack, its still in peices but all there is now to do is sew it together :)

I also made a kunai from polymorph plastic. It took all afternoon haha

I was amazingly productive this weekend. I made stilts! I (very almost) finished my wing harness. I need to buy paint, space filler and medium to mix with paint, and some more velcro to attach the wings to me, but otherwise, I have everything I need to finish the costume itself. Need a wig, facepaint and some jewellry to finish the costume entirely.

The stilts are about as uncomfortable to wear as my second most uncomfortable high heels, and about as dangerous to my health as my most uncomfortable high heels. I took them for a spin last night, and fell over once, nearly fell over about 10 times. I can get myself back up, without crawling to a fence, which is nice. And I can fall safely - I didn't hurt myself at all in the fall.

If I finish the wing harness tonight (just a velcro job) I can start the body suit. Doing that patternless, so that'll be fun. At least my crotch is going to be covered, so if I fumble a bit around there you wont be able to see. And I should probably make the over-clothes soon and put them in the garden to distress.

I just got the expanding foam out and had a go at making Sidoh (from death note)s spine.

Since the pic it has hardened and expanded quite a bit. Tomorrow I will start to try and carve.
