| I personally can't get over how much I LOVE this movie....I had been looking forward to it since they announced it (which was around the same time they announced Princess and the Frog)
Just got back from seeing it again and again we were the loudest in the cinema.
I think they did an amazing job with the Animation, whilst it was 3D it still felt like a classical 2D disney film.
I am really really toying with the idea of cosplaying Rupunzel with her braided hair for Wellington Arma....the amound of detail on her dress is amazing. |

| I agree, it was so good. I liked how even though it was in a more three dimensional "shrek" like animation, it had that old disney classic vibe about it. It put me in mind for some odd reason of the 2007 movie "enchanted" you know? A modern twist on an old fairytale type of thing???
Oh iwuvanime: Rapanzel Cosplay would pwn |

I want too see this movie so badly. But haven't had the time to see it yet. I'm disappointed that it is 3D animation, but I've read some reviews and alot of people say that it's like the classic golden age of Disney movies like Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast. There's going to be Winnie the Pooh in classic 2D this year, so it kinda makes up for it <:
Oh and 'Robert' from Everybody Loves Raymond plays the voice for the lead of the group of pub scums, which is ttly awesome.~ |

It's true...It really feels like a 2D film XD, and the amount of detail they have put into the models/animation is simply AMAZING (and would be hard with 2D)....the detail on Rapunzels dress is alone is mind boggling.
YEAH RAYMONDS BROTHER!!!!! he has the best voice and makes a lovely singer.
Heck I am listening to the soundtrack right now whilst contemplating how to make her wig O_o.... Sooooooo Cosplaying Rapunzel for Wellygeddon now (and my sister is going to be Mother Gothel XD) |

There's going to be Winnie the Pooh in classic 2D this year, so it kinda makes up for it <: They came out with Princess and the Frog, which Tiana is now my favourite Disney princess, followed closely by Rapunzel <3 As for the 3D animation, I don't think its the end of feature films, they simply joined the 3D bandwagon. Little does people know that Disney firmly hire people based on 2D drawing strengths and strong drawing foundations and not how much they know how to walk a person on the computer ;) These strengths show out in every animated Disney movie. I guess being produced by both John Lasseter (Owner of Pixar) and Glen Keane (character animator of Disney classics) helps too.
I loved the concept stuff they came up with Some of Rapunzel's traits were making her eyes bigger, instead of giving her the classic princess "bedroom eyes", which make me super happy
Hey, hey, so whos a Flynn/Eugene fan? -raises hand-
tl;dr: You won't be disappointed, its still got its 2D charm :) |

Re: Disneys Tangled By Mischa. 14/01/11, 11:22 am |
| I really loved this film! Here's what I liked:
SPOILER ALERT
- Spoiler:
- The horse (Maximilian) wasn't the usual animal sidekick - but a fully fledged character in his own right (without speech too!)
- Gothel's wonderful passive aggressive character - EVERYONE knows someone like that. She also had a believable motivation rather then just straight out malicemwuhahahahpower. Also she looked like 80s Cher :)
- Subtle little details like The Queen and Rapunzel having the same slightly larger front teeth :3
- Rapunzel was so likeable and earnest! She was sweet without being bland or saccharine.
- before the lamp ceremony, when the parents have their quiet moment of grief together in the empty bedroom they can't sleep in any-more because of the memories and the KINGS FACE :'( soooo sad
- The humour was great and not trying too hard - like the Trying on the tiara scene or Flynn's wanted posters

Favourite moment: THE CLOSET. fffffffff hte closet....I believe it becomes 10x funnier when you watch it in a packed theatre, no one is able to hold in their laughter...expecially me it seems, I had friends on the other side of the theatre who pin pointed where I was (Yes I am that annoying loud movie goer who laughs at all the jokes in an abnoxious manner)
Another thing I loved was Rapunzels lil bunny teeth, so damn cute. |

Loved the movie. Disney at its finest! I'm really glad they did a good 50th movie, shows they still got it ;) I went to see it in 2D and I don't think I'll see it in 3D. There didn't seem to be to many moments where it would have made a difference. I also loved HER HAIR! THey animated it SO WELL~
The only issue I had with this movie:
- Spoiler:
The lanturns... looked like toilet paper >_> seriously. WHY?!?!
raaaaaa I'm so keen to see it again~ //plans to go tomorrow |

Re: Disneys Tangled By Guest. 17/01/11, 01:35 am |
| I thought the songs were a little lack-lustre. I saw it last night and I couldn't sing one today if I wanted to. Compared to the music in Lion King or Aladdin, or Mulan or even Cinderella, which I don't even enjoy, the music is just blah. Not bad! Not by any means. Just forgettable.
And it was very quiet. One of the things I LOVE about Aladdin is how everyone is talking, everyone is moving, everyone is loud. In Tangled, the cast list is about 10 people. King and queen don't talk, most of the guards don't talk, most of the city folk don't talk. Don't talk AT ALL.
And the ending:
- Spoiler:
Why did he say she'd die if she healed him? Did I miss something? Did he mean actually die, or did he mean die inside if she went off with the witch? and I'd be pissed off is someone cut off my magical hair
But I loved how they worked together. Flynn wasn't constantly trying to protect Rup's from things she could handle herself. And I really liked how he never lied to her. So often in these sorts of stories, the boy meets the girl and he starts off by lying, or at least by encouraging her to think something wrong. And then he has a massive change of heart and has to convince her that while he was lying before, he's not lying now. Or something. Flynn never lied to her. He tried to manipulate her sometimes, but never lied. I liked that.
I enjoyed it, overall. Very pretty as well. |

Re: Disneys Tangled By Thornback. 17/01/11, 02:45 am |
| - Spoiler:
My only real beef with the movie was that it reverted to the classic disney trope that the heroine isnt allowed to take the final shot-it always falls to love interest/sidekick to take out the villian permanently. Rapunzel should have cut her own hair, in a moment of self emancipation. Or at least, she should have realised what Eugene had planned, and given him the okay via a meaningful look. I'm going to insert that meaningful look whenever I see it next. No "I'm going to protect you by taking away your choices!" Bull.
Aside from that, IT WAS SO UTTERLY DELIGHTFUL and its onlt been twelve hours since i saw it and I havent got my feelings in order yet. |

| I liked that Flynn never lied to Rapunzel. He was sneaky and manipulative and misleading, but there were no outright, horrible lies-like the ones so many animated relationships begin with.
Aside from the name, Flynn never pretended to be anything other than what he was. (coughaladdinwasajerkcough) |

| And nobody fell in love instantly! Gawd, how sick am I of couples spending 4 hours together and falling in love? They went out and had some serious adventures and THEN fell in love. Instead of the usual meet, talk for an evening, fall in love, have some adventures while trying to come to terms with being in love and then kiss it out. Bleugh. |

I'm pretty sure he meant that she'd die inside o-o It totally would if I was locked away underground - that can hardly be considered life~
I think I loved the music, all beautifully sung :3 , and Rapunzel's personality the most 8D She's such a little derp~ The movie had great animation too - especially Rapunzel's long hair ;o;
The only issue i think i had is..
- Spoiler:
The ending when the king and queen only had to look at Rapunzie for a bit and they were like, 'OH, YUR DEFINETELY MY CHILD OH HUG~'. When they lost their daughter, she had long blonde hair.. and I doubt they'd have hair dye there :/ Or when she held up the cloth to the ceiling and saw the sun shapes. I couldn't see the sun-shaped stuff until it all morphed into the sun shape x.x
but one thing we can all agree on is:
- Spoiler:
Rapunzel is hotter as a brunette 8D ...and that her hairstyle at the end totally looks like Yuna's from FFX-2.
