Knit fabric help?

Is it necessary to zig zag this stuff? I'm entering my rinoa in the welly comp, but no matter how much i play with the tension and fix it, it just won't zig zag the fabric. I've tried to zig zag it but it just won't work! I changed the needle to a 14 for the fabric, and FFF I just don't get why it won't do it. I want the inside of my duster to be as tidy as possible, even if Knit doesn't fray. Pic of fabric below, thank you in advance if you can help ^^''

try using a tricot stitch which is a disjointed zig zag i prefer the tricot stitch since it gives it more strength ... if that makes sense ...
