^Its a method of stitching where you catch only one thread at a time. You use it when you don't want the stitching to show up on the right side.

You'll look at it and be like 'oh yup should only take me about an hour'

@Hannah: I've done all the trim on the coat thingy and cape (the cape is on the top left corner of that last photo) sadly the trim is only half the detail OTL

So my cosplay progress lately has been like... well, I made a scarf-priesty-neck-thing and I'm getting a petticoat tomorrow. But for lack of a house/sewing machine/all my fabric I've not been able to do anything else. WOOOE. I think tomorrow I'll buy some more embroidery thread...

Icarus: yeah I have had that happen a few times.. the taping I mean. Grrr.

Meanwhile I appear to have sanded my hand which is very spesh.

And I have been casting latex pieces left right and centre:
