| Badass!
Mightydilemma: Sweetness, are you doing renegade or paragon?
Le Saboteur: Tali is so great; if I was brave enough to do the mask I would have probably chosen her over the paragon femShep I decided on.

| Pa-Renagade (just like my real shep, though i'm too Paragon these days i have no scars and i miss them) i think hana is the same. I'm doing the black and white Cerberus coat, and she's doing the long slip over the top thing.
Yeah we hope to have a Kaiden, Tali and Shep (If not Samara i'm deciding if i wana do Prosthetic's or Body armor.) I'm a sap i do want a Kaiden and a Shep simply cos my Man thing is a good younger likenes of Kaiden |

| Tachikoma are awesome; I got it when I was cosplaying with my Major Kusanagi costume. My boyfriend called it a Tamagochi last night and I was saddened.
MightyDelemma: Oh-my-gosh I'd love a Kaidan to be there just because him and Wrex are my favourite!
Annnnd because I plan to put heaps of effort in my Shep I'm going to wear it all three days. |

| Will bring Samara out for probably the Friday- Cosplay Parade so if anyone wants to make that the day that might be made of epic win: all on stage at once and no worries about the comp ;)
Doing that appliance takes about 2 and a half hours ;) |

Doing that appliance takes about 2 and a half hours ;) Oh! oh! oh! Is that Samara or.... Morinth? DUNDUNDUN!
Made a quick start on my Sheppy today; did the planning sketches and started cutting out the cardboard version (before the metal). Depending on how much I get done I may try posting a few pics of it in the progress thread. I AM EXCITE. |

I know, gosh. I really want to get the look of the fabric right... and I haven't seen anything so far that will feel correct? That's the main thing I'm worried about, more than the prop stuff.
An army of Tali's! Yes! |

Re: Mass Effect By neimhaille. 07/08/10, 05:42 pm |
| Tali was one I was almost going to do* ;) I have some fabric I was going to strip and overdye for the swirly bits- so perfect for the drape and texture.. And I have a pepakura file for her helmet if anyone is interested and is NOT I repeat NOT doing it for the contest ;) Just can't recall what model I clipped it from so I'll have to hunt for the original maker.
@TT: My costume is Samara definitely ;) She is much much more interesting ;)
@md: Thanks :) Parade is on the Saturday, games on Sunday contest on Monday- it's official cosplay stuff every day ;) Woot!

| I'm having difficult finding fabrics for Tali. I managed to buy some for the suit but I don't know how well it will look yet... (Plus it's quite thin...) Been testing out screenprinting the fabric to get the diamondy shapes on it and it seems to work *crosses fingers* Now I just gotta get started on armour etc... >.> |

Re: Mass Effect By neimhaille. 11/09/10, 07:13 am |
| So.. how is every body going? Just asking as I'm finalising my list of stuff to bring to AuckGeddon :) I'll be helping wrangling the cosplay parade (we have a couple of awesome volunteers to MC it so yay, it's in good hands I just want to be there to support it and help :) ) I'm trying to avoid doing my huge Samara make up job unless it's going to be on a day of total awesome sauce with a group ;) The day of the contest is out for me just in case there is anyone wanting to enter the contest and the two hour make up job just doesn't really fit well with keeping one's mind on the job...
Oh yeah, casts from my tentacles are going to be worn in the US and UK so excited to see how they interpret them :)
I'm going to redo my own so off I go to order more latex |

Hope it helps Yes! I've been looking at that guys work quite a bit. I'm really rushing to get the costume ready in time; but after this years Armmy I'm going to make another from scratch; really following that guys approach because his look so beautiful.
I was planning on going as Shepard for Saturday and Monday, and possibly drag out my Major Motoko Kusanagi outfit for the Sunday. Although the cosplay parade sounds like heaps of fun I'm still undecided about entering the competition. Mostly because I can see how much time I would need to put into this costume; but with uni, a job and other misc I'm doubting if I can give it all the time it needs in order to finish it to the standard that I'd like it to be at, in time. |

Re: Mass Effect By neimhaille. 12/09/10, 03:55 am |
| Parade this year contest next XD There is no rule for the contest about already worn costumes except that they can't have won a major award at Geddon or similar (Supanova, Animania etc. that are in Oz). And it takes the pressure off- I know from experience how new techniques can take multiple tries to get right ;)
Yeah, he goes by the name evilfx and he's on DA and the RPF too :) Great to see his technique shared. I'm have a hard time finding EVA foam in a thin but sturdy weight which is what I need to replace My Samara Shoulder bells. I made mine from card stock and resin and matting but they do not move properly- game meshes. Love them. I may wind up using craft vilene and craft foam to get the flex and support needed.

| It's not really double posting this far between? Hoping people are still interested as I have been working steadily to make molds and cast stuff to make Samara Betterer, just for you guys ;)
New collar :) Mold and cast in Latex. Epic fail due to wrong foam for bells- also am not happy with hot glue- but boy if there was ever a material that hot glue was made for it's EVA foam! Shoulder bells- new details sanded and cut into the old bells. They were all shiny and looked good but don't move. New molds for the back armour, also ready to cast them in latex- will be backed with some lycra that I will sew my snaps into. Latex and lycra love each other and make a great team :)
