Ps1 games on ps3?

Well I was reading today on the web that ps1 games can work on a ps3, so I went around the house trying to find a ps1 one game, I found one: Grandia.
anyways it works (I kept my disc in good shape when I wa like 9) anyways the thing is I can't save on the game. Now I do know you can save the game and I can't see if it is just the game snice the rest on my ps1 games are in new zealand. Is there some way of getting a spftware so that I can save ps1 games on ps3 games?

ps: please note i'm not that hightech so keep to dumb-level please. I just play the games

Have you made an internal memory card yet? that may be why you can't save.

Isn't it like how you cant save ps1 games onto ps2 memory cards =/??

This is why I have a psone, ps2 and am getting a ps3.

Yer i've made a ps1 card.
I do have a ps2 and a ps1 but they are still being shipped over sad

guess i'll just have to wait

^ Probably this. You'll probably need to buy a PSone memory card and stick it in the PS3 if possible. xD

Yep done that just when I go to save on the game is says that a memory card is not inserted
