| Budget super strong hair spray from the supermarket. Seriously, the cheap stuff is best, because it's basically almost glue in a can. 8D |

| Lol I styled my first wig yesterday. Cloud. It looks TERRIBLE. But that's beside the point. All I used was bobbypins to separate the spikes before I sprayed them, then I used V05 weather resistant gel spray, mega hold. x3 It's made them heaps sturdy. 8D
It's a pity NZ doesn't have that got2bglued stuff. </3 |

| Hairspray holds a lot of stuff in place - more than you'd think! Hairdriers are also really fantastic for helping "train" the fibre to go in a different direction than it wants to. :) I am also a complete wig noob, but these two things I know! |

| You can get spray adhesive, which works wonders for keeping a wig the shape you styled it. But literally being glue, you won't be able to unstyle it so only use that if you don't plan on using the wig for anything else. Oh and you should be able to find it at Mitre 10 and other places like that, just take some 18+ ID with you because it's considered R18 like spray paint is, even though it's see through. ^^; |

| As said above, hairspray will pretty much get you anywhere - as an example, my Etna wig ( http://aurellion.deviantart.com/art/The-Etna-Perspective-177365091 ) was completely hairsprayed with Budget brand hairspray from the supermarket, there's no craft foam structure or anything underneath. When dealing with crazy spikes and wigs that are super silky, it's best to build a structure out of foam (polystyrene cones, or craft foam, or even masking tape & stuffing like so: http://twitpic.com/2s0ym3 ) and then hairspray the hair to that, moving in very small sections (patience grasshopper!) and using a hairdryer to speed up the process. (I was able to get away with no structure for Etna as the fibre was actually really cheap and frizzy: as it was going into such defined spikes though, this didn't matter). Don't use the hairdryer on too high - you could melt the fibre - however if you have one of these fancy new heat resistant wigs, ignore me. Just test out a small section first, and if things start smelling funky you know it's time to stop.
For dyeing wigs, you can actually just use watered down acrylic paint - it's a lot easier, cheaper and personally I think you get better results than mixing up acrylic ink and isopropyl alcohol. Just make sure that if you want to change the colour it's not too much of a shift - brown to green won't work (I have learnt from experience!) but blonde to orange will.
My advice is to buy a very cheap wig and play around, figure out what works for you - if you can think of it and test it, go for it. If you really want you can use spraypaint to change colours and hot glue to add curls or spikes - both methods were used in my Rydia wig (pictured in avatar). Have an experiment on a cheap thing and see what works. :)
@Rikku I know! D: I don't know what happened to Got2bGlued, that was fantastic. The can looked like it belonged in Ratchet and Clank as well. 8D |

| Got2bglued changed it's brand name to Taft (I still have a little left in the got2bglued bottle lol) but if you want that sort of stuff go for a high powered styling level hair spray from Schwarzkopf (they made got2bglued/taft ) so pretty much the same stuff |

Would blonde to purple work? o:
And ditto to what everyone else has already recommended, even though i haven't had to do any extreme styling yet. But i definitely hear, cheap is the best ;) |
