Fall Anime Lineups~

I'm bored and can't be bothered to pay attention to my lecture (lol), so I'm going to do a quick runthrough of the new shows. Synopsis borrowed from ANN and comments are my own.

MM!
The story centers the life of Taro Sado going through high school. He came to realize his masochist personality and attempts to conceal this from his crush. To fix it, he enrolled in his school's "2nd Volunteer Club".

Well, I'm not really M, but when the main character is voiced by Fukuyama Jun... I'm really split between whether I want to pick this up, as high school type shows are so abundant and most of them are just... pretty terrible.

Verdict: Maybe

Panty & Stocking and Garterbelt
A company of ghosts has moved into Daten City, taking advantage of human greed. Two angels, Panty and Stocking, are sent from heaven to exterminate them -- but in reality they got kicked out for bad behavior.

Two things to note, One - the whole show seems to be drawn in American animation styles. Two - their dog looks like Grrr from Invader Zim. tl;dr GAINAX, I'm gonna see what wtfness they can pull.

Verdict: Watch

Sora no Otoshimono - Forte (sequel)

Second season of SnO. Did not see season one, will not watch this.

Verdict: Skip

Super Robot Wars OG - The Inspector (sequel)
Obligatory Sunrise Mecha. Season one seemed terrible, but this one seems much better. However, I still need to watch S1... I dunno

Verdict: Maybe

Bakuman
Moritaka Mashiro, a junior high school student, content to live out a relatively normal life as any other does, is persuaded by his classmate, Akito Takagi, to become an aspiring mangaka when the latter realizes his natural talent as an artist. However, Moritaka is reluctant to pursue his dream as his uncle, once a mangaka with his own serializations, died from overwork trying to regain his lost status. With Akito's help, Takagi gets another classmate and his school crush, Azuki Miho, who is an aspiring voice actress, to voice in the anime adaptation of their future manga once it is completed. However, Mashiro also proposes to Azuki, who surprisingly accepts only on the condition she will marry him when both of them have achieved their dreams. With a goal set before him, Mashiro begins a long and struggling path to become a famous mangaka.

If you like the death note artist, you'll like this show. I for one is not a Shounen fan, so highly unlikely I will end up watching this.

Verdict: Unlikely

Fortune Arterial - Akai Yakusoku
After a childhood full of school transfers, Hasekura Kouhei's parents finally send him to a traditionally-Christian boarding school so he won't have to move with them. Finally free to have the calm and uninterrupted school life he's always wanted, he instead find himself busy with a swarm of idiosyncratic friends.

Yawn H-game adaptations... zzz
Apparently the game is fun but overrated. Rather just play it then...

Verdict: skip

Tegami Bachi Reverse (sequel)

Second season of Letter Bee. I still need to watch Season one >_>

Hakuouki Hekketsu-roku (sequel)

More Hakuouki! Didn't watch first one, so meh.

Shinrei Tantei Yakumo
In order to help a friend possessed by a spirit, Ozawa Haruka knocks on the door of her university's movie research association. There she meets Saitou Yakumo, a rude, unkempt young man with a red left eye, who is said to have spiritual powers. At first Haruka is skeptical, but she comes to believe him when he conveys messages from her older sister, who died when she was a child. Together, they work to shed light on the terrifying events happening at their university. But this is only the prologue of what's to come...

The art style looks pretty yaoi-ish, but the synopsis intrigues me. Also, has FABULOUS well err I mean Ono D.

Verdict: watch

Ore no imouto ga konna ni kawaii wake ga nai aka OreImo
For several years, Kyousuke's relationship with his younger sister Kirino has been cold, to the point that they only share greetings. But one day, Kyousuke finds a moe anime DVD fallen in their entry hall. His interest piqued, he looks for the owner, only to realize it belongs to Kirino. He's shocked, but more surprises lie just ahead...
Little sister, check. Tsundere, check. Moe moe, check. Where's my insane onee-sama ;A;

Arakawa under the Bridge x Bridge (sequel)

More Shinbo madness! Although it's not good Shinbo as Shinbo is doing the usual crazy stuff, but the same crazy stuff. Needs more Bakemonogatari.

Verdict: unlikely

Yumeiro Patisserie SP Professional (sequel)

Does anyone even watch this show?

Shinryaku! Ika Musume
Squid Girl has come to the land from the depths of the sea to conquer humanity for its pollution of the ocean. Unfortunately she ruins the first house she uses as an invasion base and has to work to pay for repairs. Of course, she can't overcome the Aizawa sisters who manage the house, so who knows whether she can subjugate humankind.

Actaully, this is like Keroro with squid girl instead of frogs. Sounds Hilariously stupid, and will most likely exploit it's own stupidity (like Scott Pilgrim, I hope).

Verdict: Watch

Otome Youkai Zakuro
In an alternate history of the Meiji era where humans and magical beings known as "younin" live side by side, half-younin girls team up with army lieutenants to fight younin wrongdoers.

I... really don't know what I want to say about this. So many things wrong at the same time...

Verdict: Skip

Yosuga no Sora
Having lost both parents, the Kazugano twins, Haruka and Sora, decided to move in and live with their grandfather of whom they are fond of. Other motives, however, contributed to their decision to reside at their grandfather.

I'll uh... play the game instead?

Verdict: Skip

Kami nomi zo shiru sekai
Keima Katsuragi is an avid galge gamer known at his school as "Otamega" (a derogatory term combining the words Otaku and Megane) and on the internet a "The Capturing God." One day he receives an e-mail offering him a contract to "capture" girls. He accepts thinking it's a challenge and a demon from Hell named Elsee appears. She asks for his help in capturing runaway spirits that are hiding in "real" girls. He refuses stating he only like the girls from the game and she tells him that if he refuses then both of their heads will be cut off.

I heard good things about this manga until recently. Still think it will end up being some random harem though. Might give it a go.

Verdict: Maybe

Tantei Opera Milky Holmes
In the future world, people use ‘Toys’ that grant them superhuman abilities like ESP and telekinesis. This has led to a boom in both minor crimes and the need for Toy-using detectives to track down the offenders and bring them to justice. Opera Koyabashi runs the detective agency, Milky Holmes, staffed by four cheerful and energetic girls.

Your guess is as good as mine.

Sore demo machi wo mawatteiru
Seaside Maid Cafe in the Maruko Shopping District at first glance seems normal. But its three employees are rather odd: Hotori aspires to be a detective, Toshiko is a perfectionist, and Uki is an old woman with a fondness for maid outfits.

More Shinbo! But the usual Shinbo... Not sure is I really want. The OP's going to be a keeper though. Sakamoto maaya <3

Verdict: Maybe cuz its Shinbo

To aru majutsu no Index S2 (sequel)

I'm hoping can they tap into this who science/esp vs magic idea, it's awesome.

Star Driver
On a cross-shaped island in the South, a mysterious and gigantic humanoid robot known as the "Cybuddy" is discovered sealed in the underground ruins for untold ages. A group known as the "Order of the Glittering Star Cross" attempts to remove the seal by abducting a girl named Wako Agemaki, who they dubbed the "shrine maiden" and is the key to activating the robot. A boy named Takuto Tsunashi arrives with his own Cybuddy named Tauburn to rescue Wako. Thus begins a struggle to unlock the secrets of the advanced technology and prevent disaster.

Bones and mecha. Should be decent at least, but Idk if I can be bothered.

Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls
The story takes place in Japan in the early 21st century, in an alternate reality where the Tokugawa Shogunate has remained in power. In this reality, student councils are tasked with oppressing schools. Yagyuu Muneakira is a high school student who rebels against his student council with the help of girls who've had the names of famous samurai heroes passed on to them.

Also more TO-LOVE RU but I'm against fanservice.

Seems like I am so much less enthusiastic about new shows now. Just goes to show how I don't like the trend anime is going right now. Actually, my most anticipated show is an OVA...

Tamayura (OVA)
For her first year of high school, Fu Sawatari moves to Takehara, a scenic old town near Hiroshima, on the Inland Sea. Her father, who has passed away, grew up in Takehara. She loves taking photographs with his old film camera, a Rollei 35S. The story follows her and the friends who gather around her as she comes to love her new home.

The Aria Staff brings you another heart-warming story. Filled with more sappy lines than ARIA, awesome scenery pr0n, and FANTASTIC songs, with Sakamoto Maaya covering the theme song from Kiki's delivery service and Nakajima Megumi lending her talents in the ED. Probably the best anime for 2010 for me (from the AT-X preview airing).

Super Robot Wars
Bakuman is a maybe, seems a bit too meta but we'll see.

Star Driver... Now im on the fence for this, for the following reasons

* Director Igarashi doesn't know sugar honey iced tea about mecha anime. He didn't even know of the concepts "prototype" or "mass produced" before Enokido explained them to him.
* The "school-life" element of the show is VERY IMPORTANT.

Spoiler:

* Robot battles are more similar to Utena's duels than to previous robot battles in the sense that they can only take place on a specially designed arena.
* The robots are 100% magical.
* Igarashi thinks mecha anime is very magical girl-like, he considers Star Driver a magical girl show.
* If something sounds embarrassing, they're going to use it in the show. That's how they decided on Takuto's catch phrase: "The Galactic Bishounen".

See, now thats either going to be a hilarious trainwreck to watch, that wraps around to being so bad its good.. Or just straight out bad.

Magical Girl Mecha with Utena combat and male protagonists... hahahaha.

I'm interested in Garterbelt. Probably the one of the shows I'm most interested in. :)

Also some sequels like Index, but yeah, haven't made my mind up about the others yet.

I'm somewhat regretting the blood oath me and a friend made to watch ALL new anime, all these different anime (anime... animes... animii?) seem quite odd to get in too.

However, I'm looking forward to all the second seasons, apart from 2 or 3. Sora no Otoshimono and Toaru Majutsu are going to be my highlights.
