"The Hobbit" Open Casting Call - Wellington

HEY PEOPLE OF NON-AVERAGE HEIGHTS!

They're doing an open casting call for the scale doubles for the Hobbit, even though the movie doesn't even have an offical green light.

" The Hobbit casting department advertised in The Dominion Post yesterday for "short and tall" people for a preliminary casting call to take place at the Te Whaea National Dance and Drama Centre in Newtown on Sunday.

They are on the lookout for men aged 16 and over who are 1.23 metres (4ft) to 1.58m (5ft 2in) tall or over 2.03m (6ft 8in). Women, aged 16 or over, must be between 1.2m and 1.53m. "

I did four nights in RotK but am TOTALLY signing up for open casting calls when they want average height horse-riders. Or baggage handlers. Or anything else they might want someone to do.

Wear flats and comb your hair flat. Go for it even if you're borderline. The worst they can do is say no. Then you've gambled an afternoon for a chance of being blurry in the distance of a movie.

Hehe! I am 0.02m too tall to audition for a lady Hobbit. This is one of the first times I have ever been too tall for something! Good mood initiated!
(Although it does sound like it would be super fun)

I did, haha. My sister did also. It was pretty cool, even though they were just measuring us and stuff Smile

It was also kind of amazing seeing all the 6'8"+ (aka legally giants) guys kahaha. I swear one of them was 7' at least.

Now the question of the ages: why is it that super-tall people always make very small people look out-of-proportion and never the other way around?
