Tomorrow When the War Began~ By Aikome. 27/08/10, 01:55 pm |
| Released on the 2nd Septemeber 2010?
My reaction was a big "LOLWUTSRS?" Because I'm a fan of the series<3 and I couldn't believe I hadn't caught on to the fact that they had the movie already.
tookthemlongenoughgeez .__________.; I remember frequenting sites against the production of it, couples years (?) back.
Who else liked the books and is interested in the movie? I finished watching the trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9D6gi29P_vE
I really hope it lives up to the books (they were quite amazing imho) :3 and that they don't make it into some cliche sugar honey iced tea plot. Also, I wonder about the nationality of the invaders... pestered me not knowing. It wasn't revealed was it?
Andand /still rambling/ ANNNND, the Aussie accents sound strange as I almost forget that it's in Australia and while reading the books, I didn't imagine any sort of accent. |

| I AM SO EXCITED! I just read them for the first time earlier this year. They are so good. And the trailer looks awesome (although some of the characters look nothing like I imagined them... Homer was supposed to be all manpretty) The nationality was never revealed in the books, and won't be in the movie either. John Marsden made it so people wouldn't be racist towards a certain country. They are asain though - since they look like Lee and in the camps I remember something about them learning an asain language (but which one?! Ugh! I can't remember). It's somewhere that is densly populated. |

| I don't think Homer was the pretty one was he? I thought that was Lee? Then again, I haven't read the things since Intermediate, which was over (gulp) 12 years ago. And yeah, you're right about the nationality thing. Definitely asian.
I do hope they pull if off well. Although the books are easy enough to read that, if it sucks you can always pick them up and re immerse yourselves in the world. |

| I've been watching and waiting for the past year everything to do with this movie. I am VERY EXCITED to see it come to the big screen. Unfortunitly some of the people who are main characters are from "as the bell rings" which is a disney channel space filler. Will be very weird seeing them in other roles.
lol when I watched the trailer I forgot it was set in auz, the accents almost put me off wanting to go see it but alas I am once again looking forward to it.
raaaa I cannot wait to see the movie, I have BIG hopes and high expectations.
p.s how many movies do you think they'll make? I'm thinking 3-4, because I do think 7 is to many. |

| I am worried about the film, for me the series peaked at the end of the third book and couldn't quite reach the excitment and tension the first three books had after them. |

| I have been looking forward to this movie for SO LONG. I don't think I'll be able to take the Aussie accents seriously, because I associate Aussie/Kiwi accents with bad acting and bad shows but.
Homg.
I am so keen. These are some of my favourite books ever and the trailer looks accurate and not fail. |

| I just saw it! IT'S AMAZING! Without giving anything away - the casting was all really good, it stayed REALLY faithful to the book, and a lot of it was really similar to how I imagined it. It is probably one of the best book to movie adaptations I have seen (but the book is still better haha) - Spoiler:
There is one bit where the movie makers reference to the book when Ellie and Corrie are discussing a book and Ellie says 'The book is always better.' It was hilarious It was a really good movie - it's got all the bang of Hollywood movies without the crappy forumla. Bonus: It only took 2 minutes for me to stop noticing their accents. |

Re: Tomorrow When the War Began~ By Aikome. 03/09/10, 02:22 pm |
| Just saw it tonight ~~~<3 Total agreement with you there, stuck true to the book and it managed the action type scenes without being overly cheesy. ;DD
@Spoiler - chyeah, some people (including myself) chuckled knowingly at that.
I also think that the bit where..
- Spoiler:
Robyn takes the gun from Chris and shoots the soldiers was very well done. I think it's one of my favourite scenes from the movie. My eyes were like O~O and it was a pretty intense moment. Though I did inappropriately snort with sudden laughter during it.. the way she was drilling them with bullets. HUUR ;A; If they continue with the series...it'd be awesome to see her do the grenade shibang, that was a sad part in the book.
Although despite how good the movie was.. couldn't help feeling there was something lacking about it. :`3 Realised it was because the series has alot of focus on character development and watching it, it's difficult to see. /shrugs/
On the cast - Ellie was unexpectedly good for the part (was worried they'd make her tomboy-ish) and Homer was not as I imagined.. he's better, haha. |

| I just saw it and HAAAAAAAMAGAD. <3333 It was AMAZING. Way better than I'd expected. The casting was great, they stuck well to the plot and gahhh <3 I can do no more than illiterately babble.
Spoilers for movie and future books in the series
- Spoiler:
That bit where Robyn took the gun.... wow. Just wow. I'm totally a Robyn fangirl now....
And the lampshading of "The book is always better" made me laugh.
Did anyone else see at the end, the last shot of Robyn.... she had grenades. Foreshadowing, much? Or have I just been ruined by years of English at school...

| I thought that the assault rifle was initially handled was really good, it was like this big black object that imposed upon every scene; sticking out like a sore thumb on the table in a typical house, always getting in the way like in the dump truck. |

| @Rocky; yea I thought the same thing. Though at the end I did laugh a little. THey just reminded me of Rambo OTL
other than that IT WAS AMAZING. Sooo good and I would be keen for them to make some more. Homer was freakin awesome. & I had completely forgotten about Chris. That scene was hilarious then really not but still kind of funny at the same time...
Really well done. If you liked the books then go see it! |
