It was the first snm game for the year! The snm regulars were throwing a party and counting down the seconds. “It isn’t official until the ball drops!!” someone shouted. …Three! …Two! …One! Happy New Year!! The lever was pulled and the ceiling panel opened – but alas, instead of a big, spangly ball dropping down from the gap, Li-Bai’s cold, dead body crashed to the floor.

Those present stared agape. And thus the first murder of the year had been committed.

They looked under paper plates and through bags of trash for clues and shouted at each other for a couple of minutes but it all came to nothing. Clearly they were looking in all the wrong places.

While checking in the fridge for *ahem* clues, rengen was suddenly grabbed around the waist and hurdled bodily out the window of the apartment to her death. Meanwhile, the doc handed a couple Batman bandages out to someone who they thought might need it. (They didn’t.)

There was this uncomfortable aura surrounding her, so they all threw leftover finger sandwiches and cheese-on-crackers at her and lunched her to death. Unfortunately they were off with their suspicions this time.

Someone crept up on someone else as they were stealing leftover pastries into plastic containers. They raised a plastic knife to attack, but at the last second their would-be victim turned around and blew a party blower in their face, startling the attacker! “Boo, m*****f*****!!” the other shouted (and stuck a Batman bandaid on their nose).

They all decided to wait and let things simmer down, to collect their thoughts and try again. So they all sat down on beanbags and glared suspiciously at one another.

They decided to try again, this time with a REAL knife, leftover from cutting the cake. They stabbed him, twice, in the chest. In a feeble last ditch effort, Alex slapped his assailant across the face with a Batman bandaid. If he was trying to bring the other down with him, then it wasn’t a very effective method of retaliation.

It just had to be her! They smothered hyolee with her own beanbag, it was too good for her. Then the next day Cacti was found dead in a dumpster with the trash and no-one quite knew what had happened.

It was quiet. A pair of Seinheiser headphones lay on discarded on the floor. Someone picked them up and put them on. Silence. They followed the cable to its end and found it unplugged from its host – not only this, but the host, Li-Bai, the Spaghetti Western, lay dead on the floor.

The mob converged on her. She tried to convince the townsfolk of her innocence with a soothing, upbeat rhythm, but they strangled her with cords until she lay still.

She sat by herself, listening to her own unique melodies, when someone ripped her headphones from her head and forced another pair on her. The raw, hard sounds were too much for her and she convulsed a few times, blood leaking from her ears, before collapsing to the ground.

Meanwhile, someone took out their second set of headphones and glanced around at the company, until they eventually decided to be selfish for just one night and keep them for themselves. The soothing melodies kept them cool and calm ‘til dawn.

She had changed her tune, but even then they weren’t convinced. They pulled her headphones away and trampled on them, the upbeat melody cutting sharply off. Surely she was the evil one! But then while the doc, rengen, pondered her decision, Baroque music gently wafting through her ears, her headphones were wrenched away and another pair forced on her head. As the sounds of Death Metal ripped through her head, her last thought was “But this isn’t Alternative Rock…”
