Cosplay Games Outside- Cosplay Chess

Cosplay Chess~

So as part of the cosplay games we are contemplating on holding a cosplay chess match, however due to time and space, we will most likely be holding chess outside before the games on Sunday, providing it doesn't rain.

Date/Info:
When: Sunday, 10am.
How long: 20-30min approx
What is this? For anyone that doesn’t know: cosplay chess is basically chess using real people (or in our case cosplayers.) We are also going to attempt to make this a themed cosplay match, (i.e good vrs bad, emo vrs bubbly etc.)

How it works:
(Note: we will be playing small chess, so no this isn’t a game that’ll take hours, we are aiming for around 15 minutes.)
On a giant chess mat (thanks to Mandie), all pieces (from pawns to kings) will sit on their equivalent starting squares.
Two ‘players’ will play a chess match, and when they make a move, will tell the piece (you), where to go, (i.e Naruto move two squares forward.)
When one piece takes over another, an ‘in-character’ battle scene occurs, with the loser being the piece that is taken, and who ‘dies' in a dramatic way.

Information:
Note: There is a lot of planning/plotting and organizing going into this, so we may pm some pieces with important designated roles.
Notes: This is known as small chess, the mat is a little different and there are less players needed. 20 pieces total, 2 players, extras and summons TBA)
~ You do not need to know how to play chess to be a piece, as you will be given instructions on where to move, who to fight etc.
~ You will need to pre-plan your epic little fight/win/death scenes, (unless we pm you and designated a special role) if you are not sure what type of moves to make, discuss here for ideas from others, or pm me and we can plan. Note: don't start planning anything until we have confirmed that we will be running this event. Remember at the moment we are just seeing interest XD

Signing up:
~ When you sign up, please tell us the character you are cosplaying from and what the show is. This is essential as we want to try and make this as in-character as possible. We may pm you to discuss further, especially if we want to assign you a special role.
~ Tell us you are confirmed or just a maybe (for whatever reason.) We don’t want people to back out on the day as a piece missing would kill the game.
~ Once we have enough people keen and can confirm we will be running this event, we will assign you what piece you will be - this depends on what theme the game is, and what character you are cosplaying as.

We aren't assigning anyone their position yet.
We're gonna wait till we have enough people, and if we're organising a theme, and if we are actually going to run it.
So yah we'll see, no promises though~

@ Mandie, 2 players - that 'play' the game, then 20 pieces to make up the chess board (its small chess - due to time.) At the moment we just want everyone who would be keen to particpant, to tell us now so we can work with numbers (and the characters their cosplaying) and see if we can run this. nodnod

Just a thought, but perhaps we can have the king pieces also act as the players. So it has the image of the king leading their soldiers.

also haha yeah Rolly I know, time restriction + not enough time to plan = winging on day = fail XD
It was the first time we'd ever tried it too ahah.
That's why we're planning this one well in advance ^^
