...Then it turns out you really like it.

I'm thinking people have sceptical things against a game and then they tried it and are proven wrong sweatdrop

Me personally think that's how I find games I think NO WAY {Incert game name here} IS GONNA BE GOOD. My sister buys the game and I totally love it That game you DIDN'T want to play and... 352708

Is there a story behind that?

My list is pretty long but bear with me.

~Kingdom Hearts
Yes I thought it was childish at the time I wasn't into Disney stuffs then.

~Mirrors Edge
I just doubted my sister really I go against her all the time xD

~Assassins Creed
Again and sibling thing.

~Guitar Hero
I was just worried that the controls would be really dumb but man turns out I was good at the game.

~Persona series especially Persona 4
I mean YELLOW!?! But the whole TV thing and the humour won me over.

Okay maybe that list wasn't so long
Now I have to admit I love these games. and I think I was silly for doubting them Embarassed

P: I went to JB Hi-Fi to get Persona 3, and came back with Persona 4. P4 is now my FAVOURITE GAME EVER. I guess that sort of counts? xD

Otherwise, Professor Layton.

"Professor Layton and the Curious Village" + the western-ish art style had me really skeptical but in the end I really enjoyed it. :3 I think I liked the second game better though. P: Professor Layton and the Ridiculous Plot Twist.

Also Anton was cool. B|

Kingdom Hearts. -Bought Jack and Daxter 2, but they gave us the wrong disk. Figured meh, might as well try it befor we take it back tomorrow.

Metal Gear Solid ~ Me, age 11: why would you play games about some guy hanging out with people who wet themselves a lot and fighting giant robotic nuclear weapon things?
Me, now: WHY DID I EVER DOUBT THE AWESOME OF THIS SERIES MAN IT HAS /CROCODILES/ AND /CARDBOARD BOXES/.

Shadow Hearts ~ I initially thought it'd be stupid and pervy 'cause of the whole 'busty scantily clad lady on the cover' thing but I was proven wrong.

Jak and Daxter ~ So much for expecting it to be some weird series with elf-eared guys shooting guns and an annoying orange critter stalking you everywhere... It turned out to be all of the above, but the guns shoot GRAVITY POWER AT PEOPLE and the elf-eared guys are smokin' hot and the orange critter is Daxter and that just says it all.

Devil May Cry ~ I never thought demon hunting could be so much fun and then it was.

Oh hey, me too. I would see it in stores and go "This looks interesting but at the same time..." and then months later people started raging about how awesome it was so I ended up buying it for Christmas.

When we first got our PS2 (like 2004?) my first game was 'Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist of the Roses' which was a strategy game. I actually said I wouldn't get any games that involved real-time battle 'cause I was terrified I would suck royally at them! (This carries on into anything else I don't know how to do too - I think I am more insecure than I know orz). But then a few years after Kingdom Hearts came out my friends got me interested (by saying it was button-mashing only hahah) so I borrowed it off my sister's friend and... yeah. Thus began my descent into delicious, delicious gaming madness.

(btw I still kinda suck at it but hell I have fun)

Yes, I suck at RPG style battles, but I have fun!

As for topic, there's not much games that fits into this category for me...

But you should all check out "Naughty Bear" videos... there was this one I saw on NicoNico Douga at a friends house and it was... husdlga;iankgad

Oh wow, the general 'lead a girl around a castle' idea doesn't sound that interesting and OHMYGOSH the pretty eye-candy design and sad, sad story! ;_;

Also, pet peeve here - JAK and Daxter. Not JACK and Daxter...or for that matter, Jak and DEXTER.

For me, Phantasy Star Zero. My bf told me to play it weeks ago, I thought it wouldn't be that great but now I love it. I'm a cute pink robot with a bazooka! YESPLZ.

I didn't like the look at Phantasy Star Zero but after a couple of playthroughs I like it alot ! [: (Lol, Kai is such a Squall Leonhart ripoff with the forehead scar and gunblade weapon. xD)

Gears of War. It looked incredibly stupid, but it was REALLY fun to play on co-op!

The yellow motif was my favourite part about Persona 4 D: much better than the blue [and pink in P3P].

Game that did it for me were definitely Resident Evil 4, and Total Annihilation.

Another was Professor Layton for me. I loved the style in that game but i just thought to myself Hah, Puzzles? Dude how can you make this entertaining. My Girlfriend bitched at me for months to try it. I tried it and couldn't put it down.

I also had a rough time playing various Gradius games as a kid but coming back to them now they are fantastic pieces of gaming history. The Vic Viper!

I really like the colour theme now...I didn't think yellow was fitting at first but then I saw it's awesome amazingness and it's a really good game >w<

I wasn't overly convinced on Dissdia either because I hadn't heard of it until I saw it in a shop....Then there was the really annoying wait of me having to update my PSP and when I started the game, I was giggling in the living room getting weird looks from my cousins and uncle >w<

Oh and Just to add to the Persona 4 thing...They kept saying how small Inaba was I thought oh yeah it's probally a really small place then I saw the map =_=; I was like it's New Plymouth.
