I really want to make a Sora cosplay but my mum won't let me sew without a pattern ...um any help please!

It looks to me like you'll need to find 2 patterns one "overalls"-type pattern that will need to be altered to your knee-length and poofiness taken into account (rounding out that part of the pattern) And another hoodie-vest pattern. Have a look at:

Try this as that may work as a pattern to alter for your overalls.
