Pattern help needed ! D:
Post By Re-l. 10/06/10, 09:38 am

I was thinking about buying this kimono styled dress for ages:
Pattern help needed ! D: Gothic_Wa_Lolita_Kimono_Yukata_Set_4_Pieces_CT00079_01Pattern help needed ! D: CT00079_13

But it's really not worth the $155 US dollars (plus $50 postage).

I'm going to give it a go and try make it myself.
I have a vague idea how im going to make it,
For the top part- Kimono pattern, but only do the top half.
For the underskirt, I have a pattern already.
For the obi/bow I have a pattern,
And Im going to make a cincher for the middle part.

The only real problem I have is the overskirt?
I have no idea how i'm going to make it.
Does anyone know where I can buy a pattern? I can't seem to find one ;[

Thanks~

Maybe a circle skirt pattern and you just modify it to take a chunk out? That's kind of what it looks like to me.

I think I get what you mean?
Like a circle skirt with an off-centered circle (waste part)??

Thanks.

That's got all the views.

If you look for a gored skirt pattern you can adapt that. The fronts would have a cut out and the back would have a ruched section.

Personally I think using a circle would be prettier ;)

Hmmm I have some lovely feather pattern brocae that would be really lovely made up into something like that. Must ponder other possibilities. I had discounted for a Wa-loil it as it is a Chinese pattern. it was originally for a Victorian gown but is now more than 10 years old so it needs to be used ;)

@azeria
I just tried doing what you said~

It seems to be the easiest way to do it, but I dunnaw. theres something not quite right. I think its because i didnt have enough fabric so it was all above the knee, I may have to sew two pannels together and make a circle skirt so its long enough~

@neimhaille
I can't seem to find a good pattern, I dont really like using online patterns as Im bad at drafting them, prefer having an actual premade pattern that i can use~
If I adapted the pattern i wouldnt add in the ruched section, I think it looks horrible, (the bow would have covered it anyway, thankfully).

I have red chinese dragon brocade that I was going to use for my hinoto cosplay (that I never got round to making...) Its just sitting in the wardrobe gathering dust xD and I probably wont end up using it~ It was only cheapy stuff from ikes imporium anyway~It would be nice for this dress, but ima find some black brocade (Slimmingness ftw<3333333333333).
