Should I buy these?

OK, QUESTION TIME FOLKS!

Should I buy weta-legs?

They're $1,100 NZ dollars, however as of 25 May they're going up to closer to $1500.
They're mega-awesome, stunt quality, digigrade stillts. I've tried em, at the SPCC swaps day, and they're SO MUCH FUN!

I'm planning to use them for at least one costume, possibly two. Making a pair of my own instead would be effort, but doable, although they would not be nearly as comfortable, high, or sturdy. A lot cheaper though, maybe $500 at the outside (scrap plywood from my parents FTW!).

I CAN afford them. As in, I don't have to choose between food and stilts. I can afford food AND stilts. AND rent, AND the bills. But SHOULD I spend the cash is another issue entirely.

So, opinions folks!

Yes you should because they are awesome. If i had the money id get them myself. And with the price going up all the more reason to get them. I can think of heaps of costumes that would need these. I totally say go for it.

Asking cosplayers whether or not to spend insane amounts of money on things is kinda like asking a crack-head whether or not more crack is a good idea. :)

If you can comfortably afford them & will use them enough to make up for the price, then go for it!! I'd love to a pair to cosplay Alien in....

My own personal bias for Weta aside. I'd say if you can comfortably afford them then go for it!
They're pretty awesome looking and would make for some epic costumes.
They'd be practical too, like if you had to change a high up lightbulb or something.

If I had the money and didn't have a mountain of bills I'd buy some just to wear to the shops or in a mall.

Agreed - we're all mad. I <3 these legs and want them very much myself for a personal costume I want to make. You'd be foolish not to get them at that price if you have the spare moolah lying around.

They look really cool and it seems like you'll get a lot of use and fun out of them, if they are able to help you with cosplays then even better! Very Happy

On a side note, while on the bus out to Westfield mall yesterday, Is aw a guy running down the pavement in some Weta legs, they looked really cool. nodnod

If I had the spare money, I would definitely buy them - just so cool, and so many costume possibilities out there! :)
