Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey

Anyone here played it?

God I love it. That's the sort of Shin Megami Tensei game I like the most. The whole negotiation with demons, demon fusing and dungeon crawling game. Reminds me of the original SNES SMT games and those were really good for their day. Hell, I'm gonna go play them again once I finish Strange Journey.

Anyone else's thoughts on this game?

looks pretty neat. i'm glad atlus finally decided to make another smt core game, since nocturne was released almost six years ago

too bad i can't play it. sigh.

you'll have to update me on the story or something ;)

Interestingly enough, the setting happens to be Antarctica as opposed to Japan, probably to appeal to people outside Japan. Nevertheless the story is as follows.

In the 21st Century a strange abnormality is detected in the South Pole. This abnormality is named the Schwartzwelt (Black World in german) and it grows day by day. The UN, fearing the threat that it presents, sends a team of researchers in order to investigate the Schwartzwelt. If you're familiar with Shin Megami Tensei then I guess I don't have to tell you what's in the Schwartzwelt.

You get to play as a American (Japanese in the JP version) soldier who has been assigned as part of the Strike Team on the research vessel the Red Sprite. As you progress through the game. You'll start to realize how dangerous the Schwartzwelt really is. I'll post the story in spoiler tags when I finish it.

I highly recommend it. This is how a Shin Megami Tensei is done.

After playing this for several hours, I have come to a simple conclusion that I should never be a negotiator.

Most attempts I make result in the demon leaving in disgust or in attacking me. Then I die for accidentally stumbling onto a place I shouldn't have gone to, and lose about an hour or two of game time. OTL

Still a fun game, though. Am trying to finish Devil Summoner first before attempting this game seriously.

Neutral?

Chaos?

Just finished the game with the Neutral ending.

Law definitely, even though i don't have the game yet. I can't role play a bad guy or be bad, stupid personality!

@Plaz: Keep in mind that since this is a Megami Tensei game, Law doesn't necessarily equate to "Good". =P

As for me... I'unno. I seem to be leaning towards neutral/law at the moment.

yeah, in previous smt games god was generally a bit of a self-righteous Richard. i'd rather be hanging out with lucifer and his revolutionaries.

I like to go Neutral and make stuff difficult for myself. Previous SMT games had cool Neutral routes.

I just got the game and it is awesome. The starting question: will the schwarzwelt investigation mission succeed? made me laugh a lot
