Wefts? By Junko. 20/04/10, 10:51 am |
| So where's the best or various places you can get wig wefts, preferably in 'odd' colours? I always find this an impossible thing to google, often resulting in nothing but human hair extension wefts or being told what I'm looking for dosn't exist.
Please reasure me I'm not insane D:
Also, overall I'm interested in making my own wigs from scratch, purely because they're of my own design. While I this does include altering wigs, I would be ever grateful to anyone who could tell me where you can get the base nets (or whatever they're called) from. |

| Well Cosworx sells two different lengths of wefts, one 24 inches (http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=26283&cat=2471&page=1) and one 48 inches (http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=26310&cat=2471&page=1). The 48'' one is loose hair - it's not sewn along the top like the other one.
I have no idea where you'd get the nets, sorry! Have you tried ebay? |

| Cosworx has wefts/extensions in a lot of colours. But if you're on a tight budget, the shipping and currency conversion all adds up (but the NZD is pretty strong against the USD right now).
Cosworx colour palette Extensions (wefted) Extensions (loose)
EDIT: ninja'd orz. But eBay does have more extensions, some cheaper, some of questionable quality. |

| You could buy a cheapie nasty wig and unpick the wefts so you could use the base wefts from that? |

| I just picked up three hair pieces from Look Smart on Victoria St and will be making my own wig from them :)
You can order lace from online or use the same stuff used in those cheap wigs which is the same as used in a lot of laundry bags ;) I may do this myself- the base will be able to be dyed using acrylic ink like the wefts). I have plans on eventually buying some lace and hand knotting the front section of a wig so I can more easily hide my own hair.
I've made three wigs myself and love it :) http://costumes.glittersweet.com/recreations/comics/hunter.htm Four 40" long wigs http://costumes.glittersweet.com/recreations/sw/ggleia.htm Two long wigs and about mid length ponytail falls. (making here) http://pinkdiamond.livejournal.com/2010/01/10/ Four cheapie pink wigs.
And I have just reassembled a brown wig to have a hidden hair line all the way around (so I can do half up styles or low ponytails for a few costumes) But may wind up pulling it apart now I have better quality wefts to make a better wig :) |
