| A certain CNZer kept on raving about this series, so I started it this year... and Ive nearly finished book 3, but I cant see how the series will end in 1 more book.
Also, the storyline is really unexpected, as characters seem to die shortly after I seem to get into them. He is a harsh writer! Really puts the "die" into "you play or you die!."
By the way, when does the first episode screen?
Oh, and I totally want to kill the Littlefinger character! |

| The series has 7 books all together. A Dance With Dragons is the latest, being the 5th, which is FINALLY coming out in July 12.
The first ep screens Sunday in America, so will be out for download Monday late afternoon/night.
Awesome that another CNZer is posting here as well |

| The books are definitely a cut above the usual material in the genre, and I just watched the 14 min preview and was thoroughly impressed - excellent adaption - obvious pruning but done well, excellent acting, looks like decent production values. Lets see how it turns out!
As opposed to say, The Legend of the Seeker |

Sweet, thanks! Will look out on the internet for the first episode, and hurry through the books too.

| I've been watching the stream off and on for the past half an hour. Looking good! Can't wait to see the show in its entirety.
They sure got Viserys down well. What a creep. |

| Good to hear something from an actual fan. I've read a few non-spolier (although really I don't think that matters for me) early reviews and all around sounds like it's going to be an awesome show. Although apparently it's good for non-readers to either have the books handy, a ASoIaF wiki or someone who has read the books just because of the overlying plots and characters.
Downloading now! Will be done in 50 mins.
EXCITE. |

Re: HBO's A Song of Ice and Fire/A Game of Thrones By Le_Saboteur. 20/04/11, 07:08 am |
| So I quite enjoyed the first episode. There was a bit more boobies than necessary, but I guess they thought they'd chuck in a bunch of nudity to capture some people that wouldn't normally watch this sort of thing.
Really liked most of it, though. Viserys is amazing, as are the Stark kids. I'll have to watch it again so I don't have to listen to ANNOYING FRIENDS ASKING QUESTIONS (I'm looking at you, DuckehShannan). Can't wait for Littlefinger and Renly!
I thought the actors all did well, but the dialogue was quite weird and stiff in some places. Hopefully that will get better as the show goes on. It's been renewed for a second season, so here's to it being like a good wine! |

I enjoyed it, I think I need to re-watch and I haven't read the books, but yeah, it was good. |

| Hello! This should come back to the top again! How are people finding it who have read the books? It seems to be deviating a little. I still really enjoy both though! |

Re: HBO's A Song of Ice and Fire/A Game of Thrones By Guest. 14/11/12, 09:37 am |
| Im about 3/4's through reading A Clash of Kings and a couple of the characters that werent in the series - The Reeds - are in Season 3. Be interesting to see how they put hem in. Qarth from the books is completely different than Qarth in the series and Arya's story is way different (but much better in my opinion) in the show than in the book. In the book Jaqen has only just left so again, for me it will be interesting into seeing how she sets off on her adventure.
I cant wait for season 3 Countdown Timer and I should probably get my A into G and finish the books. Do you recommend reading the books then watching the series or series then books? |

Re: HBO's A Song of Ice and Fire/A Game of Thrones By Le_Saboteur. 14/11/12, 03:34 pm |
| Oh, hey old thread! The show needs less female nudity (or more male nudity, to even things up).
IIRC, the show runners have said it's going to deviate more from the books as the show goes on. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as long as it's good. The difference in the Jeyne Westerling story has been the biggest change so far in Season 2 I think, and it's fine. We'll see how it goes from there. I'm so glad we're getting the Reeds! There wasn't even a hint to it before the actors were announced, but their family makes up a big chunk not only of present/future events but the history of the world as well (at least in the book, and at least to me ).
I'm still buttmad over the House of the Undying at the end of season two. I burn with need for flashbacks. RHAEGAR. LYANNA. DFLDSFLKDFGLK. What they did have (throne room, sun and stars etc) was pretty... but the dragon scene was a let down. I think I might have unrealistic standards for this show. |
