Also I've been thinking about either per-making them or buying the boxes and just adding water. Now that there are a few more people who want in (still yet to be confirmed though) if I buy the boxes are people cool with chipping ng $2-4 dollars?

@Alice: Again, if you want a big kiwi breakfast, just eat out. n_n;; We want as little stress as possible, and trying to cook a big breakfast in a public space is not going to help to that end.

Backpackers I've gone to have all those basics there, so I'd say you'll get all the utensils you need.

PLUS you don't know what other people in the backpackers will want to use to make their own breakfast ^_^;

Keeping things simple will be much easier - having said that, I think I prefer waffles over something fried and oily for breakfast. :)

And yes, I'm willing to chip in a bit for waffles!

There are cheap easy to find satay places in DnDn. But if you are talking breakfasts then you are limited to what is open.

OH AND UPDATE ON WAFFLES!!!
I can get decent pre-mixes in Chch for $3-ish.
I figure 1 pack will make about 10 waffles. People usually eat 3-5 on average so it'll probably be about $1.50 each to pay for it and what ever is left could either pay for toppings (like fruits/ice cream/chocolate/maple syrup - if Jess would rather spread the cost)
Also would people rather have to much waffle mixture or less? Coz at the moment I'm thinking we either get 4 (maybe 5) boxes for 10 people depending on how much you think you will eat.

oh and could 1 person in Dunedin check the prices of waffle mix at your local supermarket? (it's in the baking isle) because if they are more expensive there I'll buy them in Chch before we leave~

for the sake of organization, i'd like to remind that this is a closed thread... by all means start one for your own backpackers group, but this was really created to organize stuff between the people in our own private 10 person dorm which is already proving to be a feat in itself. <: ;;

As for waffles, I think if we buy 5 boxes of mix for the 10 of us then we should be good? 'Coz really, if there's leftovers it's not like we won't be able to use them. nyahaha

Also, some people eat more than others anyway. *shrug* On the toppings thing - I reckon it'd be better if we could all chip in - that way we can get a bit more variety too. Very Happy

How far away is the nearest supermarket? If waffle mix isn't that expensive there, then maybe we should all just take a hike down and buy toppings/waffle mix all in one lot? (I want to say ICE-CREAM too for the waffles, but that might be pushing it, lol)

Yeah, I figure it's not like we're gunna have to worry about leftover ice-cream - one tub between 10 people will go down very quickly (that's like a scoop each maybe? Idk, I suck with quantities). If the supermarket is nearby then we can just buy a tub in the morning rather than leaving it in the communal freezer (if there is one?).
