| So, like, seriously? Where IS the love for this game?
Who's playing? Have you finished/replayed? What endings/outcomes did you get?
Naturally, these will have to go under spoiler tags, but yeah! XD
Josh finished his game a few days back with Gemma and myself directing him.
- Spoiler:
Sadly, a mix-up with the moterbike at the end meant poor Ethan had to die at the ending of that play-through. ;_;
At least the killer got what was coming to him, but man ETHAANNNNN!!!
Gem's on a mission now for him to LIVE all the way into the ending credits
I think Ethan has to be, hands down, one of the video game characters I've ever had such a fond connection to. He doesn't have to be bad-boy-awesome or run about guns blazing or throwing out one-liners. He's simply a broken man trying to save his son.
;_; this game is amazing. |

| @ Jess and Admin - YES! Like I told Jess, best not to have your Mum around during SOME cutscenes, it's not just language but...other things. However the narrative is REALLY well done.
I...I actually think I'm LIKING the idea of quicktime events. At least they WORK for this game! :3
@Tammy - DDDDOOOOo EEEEEETTTTTT!!!!
@Abby - Buy it offa Josh!

| lol, I want to play it, but I'll have to wait for school holidays so that I'm home alone-- I would /not/ want my mother to see some of those Madison scenes. Ugh.
Or the Lizard trial. I watched a Youtube video of it and I have a feeling it would squick out my parents. =_=;;
ANYWAY Heavy Rain looks totally awesome. Muahahaha~ I shall rent it out some time and enjoy failing epically at some of the QTEs. 8D |

| Haha, thought I can understand - since gameplay comes down to YOUR choices it sucks if someone else makes it for you, since there are some moments where one choice can fully change the endings you get.

| Finished my 4th play through. Seen all endings except the perfect crime one, which i believe is everyone is killed by you know who, and he escapes the cops.
It's bizarre but it's the only game in existence that I have played through over 3 times and never enjoyed any less. This game has a lasting appeal that I find unshakable. |

Yup. and you get a Trophy for it too (gold, I think) however you have to have them killed in a certain scene - it can't be one of the (many) ways that they can die. XD Only one way for each of them - plus you have to also clear all the fingerprints in the clock store, ect. |

| Just done my 6th playthrough now. I managed to find time to keep trying to 100% it despite FFXIII. I just find Heavy Rain so irresistable sitting there in it's rain-effect slip case looking at me whenever I'm not playing it. I now have every trophy except seen all endings but I don't know what one(s) I haven't seen and refuse to use a walkthrough on this masterpiece. |

Re: Heavy Rain By Auroa. 22/06/10, 11:45 am |
| *revives* Hopefully more people have played it now y/y? Thoughts? What was your ending??
This has to be the best game I have ever played. Never have I experienced a game to be so intense, and (some scenes) so heart-wrenching. I dont think I've ever been so emotionally attached to the characters and completely terrified that my choices could have a chance resulting in their death.
I loved all 4 main characters and most of the sides - except Blake grrr, and it was also nice to have strong female characters as well for a change.
The story, the characters, the setting, the music = brilliant!
NOT TO MENTION THE TWISTS. OMG. Especially, (spoiler HUGE spoiler)
- Spoiler:
NO SCOTT :< HOW COULD YOU. YOU USED TO BE COOL MAN. COOL. I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!
And ARI. I WANT. Wow. Just wow.
My ending:
- Spoiler:
I had a happy ending - I think... (I do wonder about Normans end scene though :/)... but all my characters survived! Well except Scott. Despite the epic fight I did have Norman try to save him but then he tried to drag Norman down with him. Man was that scene intense!!
The thing I regret most in my decisions is the shark trial, "I'm a father too." BANG. ;-; That scene is gonna stick with me. I felt so bad, but I was under the impression the killer might be watching so if I didn't get Ethan to kill him, Shaun would be as good as dead. :/
I’m watching my brother play it, and I cannot believe the differences o_O … it varies from a few sentences to full scenes and well some actions of course affect the ending. Its like watching a similar movie it’s the same but not the same!
What did you guys do for:
- Spoiler:
The Shark; killing another guy to save your son? Did you kill him? I spent like 10 minutes trying to decide >_>; Did you do all the tasks?
I rarely do this but I actually have high hopes for this prospected movie. I just want more heavy rain lol. I don’t know if the movie will work or not. It better not disappoint if it is made. :<
p.s for those that want to play it but haven’t yet, be careful, this is a game you do not want spoiled, and it very easily is. |

Re: Heavy Rain By IcyRose. 22/06/10, 08:14 pm |
| Part of me wants to either cosplay Ethan at an Armageddon and run around the con screaming out "SHAUN!" Possibly with people nearby holding up the button commands. or Jayden and sit somewhere with shades on making random hand movements as if I'm using ARI.
But enough about that. I decided to play this game with Meghan when she came down to visit last school holidays as my flatmates had the game and I had watched them play. Because I thought Meghan would enjoy the game but at the same time I also wanted to play, I followed what my flatmates did and we designated 2 of the characters between each other. Meghan played as Madison & Jayden while I played as Ethan & Scott. Oddly enough, the same combination my flatmates did.
I loved the game to bits. It was incredibly immersive and the game really knew how to get to you. I do have a couple of gripes about it though.
- Spoiler:
The killer never changes. While that does open up a different way of playing the game (playing knowing that Scott is the killer and therefore playing to make sure he gets away with the whole thing) Given the lots of different endings, it would have been nice to have it so the killer can change each gameplay... and... ok that is my only real complaint. I didn't mind the whole slow pacing of doing normal everyday life stuff in the prologue, I thought it helped build the atmosphere and make you feel more like the characters you played. So yeah
As for ending of the game and stuff I did:
- Spoiler:
I got a happy ending. But surprisingly did not get the Four Heroes trophy. I suspect it was because Ethan got released from prison (I felt really bad for screwing up his escape from the motel and therefore getting put in prison for the rest of the game) and as a result did not make it to the final chapter. But in any case, Madison got her ending where she became famous for writing the book about the killings and Jayden got over his drug problem but ARI still messes with his mind while Scott ended up dead with Lauren cursing his name at his grave.
As for the Shark trial, I didn't kill the dealer. But I did complete every other trial. However I knew from my flatmate's playthrough that you could choose to not kill him and still save Shaun and in an attempt to get a better ending I more or less guessed that you could probably still save Shaun without completing any trial as long as you figured out where the final location was. That said, I was really tempted to pull the trigger. But didn't have it in me in the end. The whole part about him being in his kid's room and the prospect of having the kid come home to their Dad dead in the middle of their bedroom really got to me so I couldn't do it, even though seconds before that I would have loved to after he blasting a big gaping hole in my body.

Re: Heavy Rain By Auroa. 23/06/10, 10:33 am |
| DO IT. I don't know what one would be funnier, probably Norman ahah.
Yeah I do agree with your gripe, specially since
- Spoiler:
throughout the game you have so many different suspects! That was another thing I loved about the game. Wondering who it was, and if it could really be Ethan (though I couldn't see him doing it even if it was during blackouts...)
- Spoiler:
When the police come to the hotel, I made Ethan jump, in the hopes Madison might be near by to help me LOL. I got the four heros trophy, and I got the same as you for Normans ending... though I wonder if theres a happier one without the virtual tanks.
My brothers ending (lol complete opposite to mine):
- Spoiler:
He didn't save Lauren from the sinking car. He didn't kill the dealer either, but managed to figure out where Shaun was without the clue. But because he didn't guess the password in time Madison didn't find where Shaun lived, and Ethan ended up getting shot. ;-; Norman, well lol. First he died due to too much ARI, but my brother reloaded, considering he had got what he wanted and was just biding time. He then decided to accuse Blake of being the killer for the LOL (Blake is such an warped bat-fowling horn-beast), but it autosaved before he could reload. So he carried on, and got one of the worst endings - Shaun crying over his fathers grave ;-;, Madison imagining shes being attacked, and Norman giving over his badge and ARI - which is possibly a better ending for him? o_O and Scott ran free.

Re: Heavy Rain By Keysha-chan. 25/06/10, 05:38 am |
| Oh yay! More love for the game!
- Spoiler:
I actually don't mind the lack of changing Origami killer. It would have required a HUGE addition to the gameplay which is already pretty beefed up heavy with other story changes.
My only REAL gripe with the story is the Voice acting. Some is very good (Ethan, Scott, Madison (who's a model, not an actress) and then the fact that they're all Europeans and had to try and hide their accents.
The girl who is with Scott most of the time, however, gets on my nerves with her acting and don't even get me STARTED on the kids. JASON! XO
For the Shark trial, we had a big debate on kill or not kill, but ended up not doing so. I think you only have to solve about 3 of the trials to still be able to find shawn (but you get more trophies if you do all of them)
Anyone manage to get the Kamikaze trophy? That's one HECK of a hard task just for a bronze trophy!
And Madison is a character I LOVE! Strong female lead but she isn't buffed or bad@ss. Girl just has the courage to help Ethan and...it's love!
Try getting to the final scene where it's her Vs the killer rather than Jayden. I respect her even more after that!
btw, has anyone here played the extra downloadable episode featuring Madison (prior to the story of Heavy Rain). It's pretty damn scary and intense! |

| No, I was considering it. Will do now =D
lmao, my brother just watched his friend play the whole game straight = 8 hours. His friend, got... the worst ending possible I think.
- Spoiler:
Jayden died in the fight against Mad Jack, Madison died via chainsaw. Without anyones help Ethan went to jail and hung himself. Shaun drowned. Scott was about to walk free when Lauren came and killed him. ;-;

Out of curiosity... through the story, who did you guys
- Spoiler:
believe the origami killer was? Did you ever see the real one (Scotty) coming??
Just downloaded Madison's episode I'm only like 10 minutes in, and I'm too scared to go any further. *shudder*
- Spoiler:
I knew there would be more to this taxidermist, but didn't think it would go that far! I'm in the room with the stuffed people. WTF. I bet as soon as I get into the hallway or make my way out he'll come. Oh where oh where is the 'break nearest window and jump out' option >>' I don't want to play anymore, its too scary...

took me AGES to pick up on who the killer was. I can't remember when the wheels clicked over and I put two and two together, but I'm not always the best at crime solving. XD

Re: Heavy Rain By Auroa. 02/07/10, 03:00 am |
| Wow!
- Spoiler:
Judging by the response on forums, quite a lot of people did, or didn't till it was said. I didn't realize till the kid said "scotty' and then I was like "...wait...WHAT?!"
I did it! Ninja like XD
- Spoiler:
I snuck out the garage way when he went to the toilet ahahah. He looked upstairs for me but never saw me. The newspaper said the police arrested him.
But my brother... - Spoiler:
its fair to say his game was far more intense then mine lmao. He broke the bird, and then was like oh bugger it, left all the cupboards open. When the guy arrived, he ran across the floorbirds not thinking of going slowly. It made for quite a lot of action scenes before he grabbed the key and went out the front door. Then the bike wouldn't start for ages and just left as he was about to grab her lol. Then he went inside and shot himself oO'
I wonder when the next DLC is coming D=

Re: Heavy Rain By Keysha-chan. 02/07/10, 07:23 am |
| Yeah, I recall seeing a youtube one where...
- Spoiler:
she hid under the bed, but he caught her as she was leaving and it ended in a lot of running around and finally an Indiana Jones-like tribute to her going under the door and over to her bike. He shot himself after that too.
I didn't realise there was a way to escape while he was on the loo. XD Even more so that he could live at the end (as well as Madison).
Then again, same as Heavy Rain. Many people I know end up tied up in the crazy doctor's basement ready to be cut up alive, but you can just grab the clue you need and leave without him ever catching you.
