PlayStation 3 Suffering From Widespread PSN Error

Forum members and e-mail tipsters are saying this problem is
primarily affecting owners of the older model of the PlayStation 3, and
is even causing users to lose trophies previously earned. Many titles,
such as Heavy Rain, are also now unplayable due to connection issues
with Sony's servers.

One theory points to an issue with the console's internal calendar, which is reportedly resetting pre-slim models to 12/31/1999.

It's unclear at the moment how widespread this issue is.

IGN has contacted SCEA for additional updates on what's causing these errors.

Update: SCEA has confirmed PS3 Slim models (120/250GB) are connecting normally.

Anyone here suffering from this? My PS3 won't let me play games. Such a shame since I want to play Heavy Rain.....

My guess is those affected will see a firmware update Very Soon (possibly one that has to be manually applied, depending on how chronic the connection issue is).

You know what's Really weird? I now can't turn my PS3 on.. D: I went to see if I was able to play my Tekken 6... and now the PS3 won't turn on D:

Makes me glad I have yet to connect my PS3 to the internet. @_@

Poor Josh was NOT happy today that he couldn't play Heavy Rain. I think he'll be devastated if his trophies are gone for good (even his HR theme was not showing when he turned on the console).

I know it's a while since this error started bu just reporting that I never suffered from it in any way, and my PS3 is permanently connected to teh nets.

Yea mine was fine played online with no issues. Thats weird aye.
