| This is not NINE as in, singing dancing musical live action Nine, but 9 produced by Tim Burton.
I went and saw the preview last night and I must say... I'm glad I didn't pay to see it.
It's not that it wasn't good, I still enjoyed the general feel of the movie (post apocalyptic and somehow still made for CHILDREN) but I felt it was far too rushed and rather ill-directed. It was like they were trying to compact a LOT of plot into such a small frame of time and didn't really get a chance to explore aspects of Post Apocalyptic life for the puppets.
It would have been interesting to see more character development for each of the puppet people considering they all have rather distinctive personalities (I won't give away too much, or I'll spoil the movie).
All in all, it was pretty average. I think I would have preferred to read it as a book as it was neither visually exciting or engrossing.
I don't recommend paying to see it.

| Baww.
It looked like it was going to be pretty good from the trailers (okay, I'll admit I was a bigtime Coheed and Cambria fangirl when I was younger and their song playing probably influences me), this disappoints me.
I'll probably see it when it comes up on the comps list. It seems like one of those movies that floats between 'for kids' and 'for adults' and doesn't really know where to sit.
I am a sucker for a tearjerker though, does it live up in the 'tug-on-your-heartstrings' department? |

| Not really. I didn't really sense any BAAAWWWWW moments, apart from the end where it wasn't like BAWWWW it was more "Oh, that's nice."
Ending wasn't very satisfactory, plot wise. It gave you closure as to what happened to some of the characters, but that's about it. |

| I personally love this movie....I saw it ages ago when I was in Hong Kong. I can see all the flaws with it and why it puts people off but I like it just because it is something different and I adore the idea/designs behind it. It is more of an abstract film that doesn't follow the usual storytelling rules. Yes I agree it did feel rushed but I still loved it. It also made me cry.....a lot.....freaking depressing movie. |

| The animation in the film is fantastic.
The story felt a little choppy-changey.
I dunno...I did LIKE it but I didn't LOVE it and I feel the story is an obvious reason as to why - it needed more time to flourish. It was interesting to suddenly be thrown into a movie rather than start with a 'once upon a time' feel but they didn't quite make that transition smooth out as you started working your way into the film.
Still love the arty puppet, though. :3 |
