Horror Recommendations~ By Aikome. 18/11/09, 12:27 pm |
| Anyone know any reeeeeeeal good ones ? I love horror < 3 in general. It doesn't have to have an original storyline or anything. . cause I watch it for the lulz. Never came across one that actually. . scared me~ except "Long Time Dead" ( but I watched it when I was eight so it doesn't count o-o;; ) I just so want some good ole horror to watch with my friends at night while munching. So, any recommendations ? Even if it's anime ? |

| Lol. Don't dismiss this straight away, but Frankenfish is actually decent. Despite the name It is very, very B-grade in terms of script and content, but has some okay boo!scares in it. Think Lake Placid but with fish instead of crocs. |

| Versus is HILARIOUS.
It's set in a forest where anyone that dies comes back as a zombie 8D ....I fell asleep when we were watching it *fails at staying up late* though, so I don't remember much else lol. |

| Ginger Snaps: It's freaky in a gore way + a physics ed up emotional way. Dead Snow: It is hilarious! And about zombie nazis. How can you lose? Dance of the Dead: Zombies + prom! One of the better zombie movies I've seen recently, besides Dead Snow Suicide Club: It isn't so much scary as one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen. |

BEST.MOVIE.EVER. wellnotreallybutstill the characters don't even have names, and one of the guys pulls the most hillarious funny faces.
I cant actually think of any movies, but for anime (oh not movies though), two spring to mind; Ghost Hunt - bout a group of paranormal investigators, and Ghost Hound - I dont know even know how to explain that one, but it has a few jump-out-of seat moments. I've heard (hide 'n' seek) Kakurenbo is a scary short film, haven't seen it yet though.
I would also like to know some good actual scary horror movies, cause I haven't found any, some video games scare me more then movies ever have >_>' |

| Well if you only watch horror for the lulz I can probably suggest a good number. I've put dates in parenthesis for the ones that have multiple versions.
Zombies: Dawn of the Dead (1978) Zombieland (out in cinemas now) Evil Dead 2 Braindead
Monsters (or stuff I can't categorize): The Fly (1986) The Thing (1982) Alien and/or Aliens (not any of the other ones though) Nosferatu (1979) The Exorcist The Ring/Ringu (so much fun, but you have probably seen one of the versions)
Serial Killers/Slashers: Funny Games (either version is fun/cruel) Psycho (1960 b&w fun) Scream (self-aware horror is pretty fun when done right) Child's Play (so ludicrously enjoyable) Suspiria (Italian horror = visual feast for the eyes)
Nightmare Fuel: Audition/Odishon (japanese horror at its most sadistic) Videodrome
Probably plenty of more, but those are off the top of my head. |

| Mummy doesn't let me watch horror cuz she says 'it gives the spirits in the house ideas' But I did watch Seed Of Chucky on C4 once. It was kinda scary but lulzy too 8D |

| I ADORE Braindead. *sigh* Whenever I watch it though, my brain goes:
"Did the guys in Hollywood know about this film when they gave Peter Jackson a bazillion dollars to make Lord of the Rings?" |

| Evil Dead 2 is full of awesome. It's... not at all scary, but it's still good viewing.
Both REC movies were pretty scary. Especially the end of the first one, yikes. |

| I wasn't a fan of REC but I know I'm in the minority on that.
None of the Evil Dead triliogy are "scary" but I'm a huge fan of the bunch.
I'm also a fan of the "of the dead" series (i.e, land, night, day, dawn etc) however Not a fan of the remakes, I'm a classic type of guy.
Jaws is one of my favourite horrors of all time. actually i did a blog series on top 31 horrors october last year http://jokerscard.wordpress.com/ |

Re: Horror Recommendations~ By Cookie Monster. 21/01/10, 06:44 am |
| On a more serious note: The Amityville Horror or it's remakes (like the 2005 one) are good, if you know about it, or read the book. Don't get 2, 3 &4; They're rubbish. Cloverfield. Blair Witch crossed with Godzilla, but a whole lot better than Blair Witch. Dawn of the Dead. Zombies. Doom. Good, but could've ben better. The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Highly recomend this one. I Am Legend. Will Sith did a good job in this. The Mist. I've only seen the remake. It was good, reminded me of Half-Life. Plant Terror. Cheesy. Done in "Evil Dead"/"Army of Darkness" (these are 80's B-Movies classics. watch them if you haven't seen them) style. Resident Evil Series. First movie blew, rest were good. Also has Zombies Silent Hill. I recommed this too. The Unborn. Similar too Emily Rose, but not as 'extreme', tries to make it up with some action, but not as good. |
