Re: Team Fortress 2 Cosplay By Dimey. 31/01/10, 04:09 am |
| Well I could just ask her at school. Or on msn later tonight.
Cos I will see her on Wednesday for school (She's in my peer support group for the year 9s >_>...yes I am a Peer Supporter)
I'll ask her to bring it. My mum is very organized and agrees that I should try and get the coat done in February. I think if I get the pattern off her this week, and get the material next week, I'll be pretty much good to go and have it done by the end of Feb |

Re: Team Fortress 2 Cosplay By Dimey. 31/01/10, 04:19 am |
| Haha I think I started a trend with that term. And my little brother evolved from Year 9 to Year 10....still as annoying as one though.
Also I don't think I'll have many problems. I'm one of those "Measure twice, cut once" people. My friend however is "Take a guess, spend hours fixing the tiny mistake I made" person.
Coat should look good though. The pattern I have is for a very long coat that has the cross-chest thing like the Medic's coat has. It will need modifying though, so that it can be fitted to look more well...feminine haha. I'm going to try and do the Female version of what the medic would look like haha.
Edit: http://www.hellocosplay.com/images/d-gray-man-yu-kanda-cosplay-halloween-costume-1.jpg My friend got a pattern for this coat for the cosplay she'll be doing. So you can see what I'm working with, and I just need to fix it up to fit my style more. |

| Sorry
...and I was going to update this post by asking if we were all going to bother with character patches for our costumes that each character wears, and that I could make them all if everyone wanted that.
(I assume I am allowed to ask that >_<) |

Re: Team Fortress 2 Cosplay By TinTango. 31/01/10, 09:44 am |
| Character patches are great! I really struggled with mine last year for my heavy. Forked out something ridiculous to have it machine sewn on by one of those logo places.
BTW has everyone joined/seen the Cosplay.com forums? In the Forums there is a Team Fortress 2 thread which has links to all the stuff people have used/got help with, from cosplayers around the world.
I recommend reading the thread from the latest one and going backwards, so theres a better chance that the links to images/info are still accessible.
Will edit this with a link, once I've found it. Addit: http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=128928&page=108 though you migh have to register to see it? (P.S. it's been around since 2007!)

| Oh, just found this website for large version of the patches... hopefully they are the right size. http://hatt.schroe.org/games/tf2/patches/ I was thinking of doing an iron-on transfer for my heavy/soldier outfits. What do you guys think?

Re: Team Fortress 2 Cosplay By Dimey. 31/01/10, 10:00 am |
| Yeah I was thinking of Iron-on ones.
My brother said something about getting them made but I'm a cheap-a*s
I was basically going to make simple ones, with just a red material then cut out a pattern e.g Cross and sew that on top, then sew it onto the coat. |

Re: Team Fortress 2 Cosplay By Dimey. 31/01/10, 10:34 am |
| We had yellow round earmuffs that were broken and when you put them on, it was just one yellow earmuff (Like the Scout's) and we attached a mouthpiece to it. It was perfect.
I guess I'll have to go buy a new one.
Erm, would buying a balaclava and cutting it out more work for the spy? |

This was something I considered, but decided against (I have a Blu Spy costume). In the end my mask was made out of a form of stretch material that JVCA patterned out into a full facemask, and the finished effect was much better than I could have gotten from a balaclava. I'd suggest asking her about how to do it - I think she is taking commissions for them too.

| I agree, that does look better than what a balaclava would do.
I think I might give it a shot at making it.
Thanks for the advice |

If it were $8 a patch, that might not be too bad.
But I won't be willing to pay for the blue team's ones. Sorry |
