Friends of mine got this with a freeloader, I've had much fun with this game. Although despite all the characters added in, my best character is still Marth. Although I'm beginning to get the hang of using Metaknight and Wolf

Ohhhh, my friend has been nagging me to buy this game. But just to annoy him I said I wouldn't buy it until he played FFVII. Which won't be for a while because he refuses to play anything not made by Valve or Nintendo. WHICH IS RIDICULOUS.

And I really REALLY want to get this game but doing so would mean pulling out of the deal. That would mean he would WIN. No WAY am I letting that happen!

Ah well. I have no money at the moment anyway, so that makes things simpler.

I play Marth though i find my friends are no match for me, so i play Ganondwarf

a) I disagree that Ike is cheap.. he is one of the slowest characters in the game. However, he is also my favourite, nothing as satisfying in all of brawl, as finally getting that side smash and blasting someone off screen.

b) BEST GAME EVER

Me and my friend have epic competitions on brawl, we have clocked stupid amoutns of hours on the game, he plays Link, and occasionally Ganondorf, I tend to play Ike, with a little Zelda(not sheik), and a bit of marth thrown in ^_^

a)yeah Ike is dangerous against nubs, but when you know how to deal with him he can be killed( only problem i have is he can punt and kill me {as Marth} at 60%

B) Agree best game ever, it's pretty normal to spend 6 hours straight playing this game with friends. SO MUCH CONTENT. and the chance of random/awesome things happening really increases the fun

C) i really like Link. 3 ranged weapons plus a shield if maneuvered right can block projectiles + i think he's the best looking character (sorry marth =[)

dislike Kirby : my friend uses him and wins sometimes by totally being cheap here is his pattern; jump jump jump jump ROCKFORM ->Dodge attack Jump jump jump ROCKFORM (repeat)

brawl is overhyped as all physics
it's fun for a while but the lack of a real moveset or any depth whatsoever makes for a pretty tired game. someone whos never played before could pick up a controller and learn to play as well as someone whos been playing for months, in a few hours. the level of skill necessary to play brawl at a competent level is minimal. it works as a party game - when you're just chillin and not playing seriously the limited depth is more of a blessing than a curse - but when playing competitively it's generally boring.

(still i think we should share friendcodes ok i haven't played in a while but)

ps my sister has never played an action game before but playing ike she managed to beat someone whos been playing games since the dawn of time

I disagree sorry.
There are certain levels of skill that you can reach in a few hours, but someone who is skilled enough will not even get hit by someone who has just started, or even has been playing for a while.

The game is as deep and complex as you want to make it, if all you do is jump around rockforming, or any other move, then yes its hella boring. However, if you use the full aray of moves set to your character, it can make for some very complex battles.

D) Too many to count.. >_< Ya really need to see some of the replays eh Razz

oh, and that person must not have been that great at Brawl, Ike is one of the slowest characters, and if she had jsut started, the player should have been able to dodge pretty much everything that was thrown at them... >_<

that's ok

i'm not sorry but brawl really isn't as complex as you want to make it. just look at guilty gear for example - besides all your normal moves, you have dust, faultless defense, just defend, roman cancel, force break, jump install, slash back, probably other stuff that i don't remember
-- this is what makes playing competitively fun. pulling off the perfect set of complex button presses to save you a just that few milliseconds of time between moves or that tiny bit of health that'll win you the match. that's what separates beginners and pros. brawl just doesn't have that sense of achievement when you finally learn how to pull off that low kick forward punch heavy slash jump install hcbf kick false roman cancel air dash jump heavy slash qcf slash combo because it doesn't have any complicated combos to master.
you know?

brawl has a set of weak moves, a set of strong moves, a block, a roll, a super move, and items. the most complex system of the game is reflecting projectiles by blocking at just the right time and something about getting up faster when you roll before you land or something. those two are the only things i can think of that a pro could pull off and a newbie potentially couldn't.

i'll admit, it's pretty similar to "the only things i'm not going to ignore".

anyway yeah, good call - i had no idea what that was until you mentioned it and i googled it. not that surprising since it's something that fans discovered and not really an official brawl move. looking up more advanced moves i noticed there are also like 5 other general and a few character-specfic techniques but that's still hardly enough to alleviate it from a relative lack of depth.

also wow yes brawl+ looks interesting i should try that out sometime
