[WCB10] Performance ideas! Suggest plz~

This be the thread for talk about performers we'll try and secure for ze ball. We have one performer dead keen to come (IN COSPLAY AWESOME) and are investigating more possibilities :3

So, what do you want to see at the ball? Dancers, acrobats, jugglers, bands, XTREME CROCHET, what? Tell us please Razz

I think a band performance in Cosplay would be awesome, and I'm pretty sure we have all the makings for a band?

Also there are a few problems with organising a band on the forums. While it would be awesome, and there's definitely potential, we cosplayers are notorious for being super gung-ho and then pulling out. We're going to need people to confirm and be reliable, but this is also a nice opportunity for a pre-existing band to get a little exposure :) so if anyone's brother/sister/mum/uncle-in-law has a band and wants to do a free gig purely for teh lulz, that would be AWESOME. And, you know, they'd have to dress up Razz

one of my old tutors does acrobatics/stiltwalking but that would depend on the venue

In terms of 'band', what would be the conditions and stuff? I was talking about this to some friends in the music circle (of which, I am a part of, thanks to my MUSICAL-DYSLEXIA*) and they're rather interested in playing (any publicity is good) and are all good for JAPENESE ANIMU MOOSIC or other.

*MUSICAL DYSLEXIA is not a real term. You cannot google it. You can, but it's a dumb idea. <3

My brother is "That 80's Band" - they do corporate type events, entirely 80's covers and in usually in 80's costumes...
But they usually charge waaaaay outside the budget (I don't know what the music budget is, but I'll bet it's outside it!) and I don't think I can flutter my eyelashes enough to get them to do it for free, coz I think they still hire some of thier equipment and need to cover that at minimum. But if you'd like I can ask if they'll do mates rates?

Definitely; can't really guarantee that they'll actually get out business, but any estimate would be great if they're willing!

we are going to hold dance practices so if you know some one who knows the dance enough to teach people then yeah i don't see why not

@Cassiel: I'm absolutely desperate to get some circus performers in! Cap E does actually have the facilities for an aerial rig, I *think*, and that would be absolutely freaking amazing...but failing that, I'm going to try every trick and bribe I can to get some people in to do some groundwork. We still need to sort out our final budget to figure out if we can pay professionals or ask them to come in for free...which will be difficult.

Bump and update: Have just requested a quote from a circus company for a variety of performances; sideshow (contortionism/freaky stuff), adagio (acrobalance), aerial hoop and aerial silks. Crossing all my fingers and my toes that it won't cost a bajillion million bucks.

I reckon people cosplaying who can sing, like get a Black Stones (from NANA) cosplay group to play//fake playing, and a Trapnest group (aslo NANA) and stuff like that *loves NANA too much*
