Katana or No Katana By Strieth [Leon]. 23/07/08, 01:10 am |
| Well, I'm cosplaying as Itachi Uchiha from the Naruto Series to Auckgeddon and I was wandering if it was nessacary to bring a Katana. I know Itachi only uses a katana once in the show (When He was torturing Kakashi in the Mangekyo Sharingan), but most cosplayers tend to bring one. Now, I have no trouble in getting and bringing a katana, but what will make the cosplay more effective? Katana or No Katana? |

| Question: Is it a metal katana?
Coz the rules are that no metal wepons allowed at 'Geddons. At least in the contest, or something. Of course sometimes they don't notice and I have heard of people getting away with it. But our illustrious judge asks you to explain the weapon and you say "uh... it's metal" when the rules say thats a nono .... But check exactly what the rules say.
I like having a prop, even if it's only vaguely canon. It can help make your poses a bit more dynamic, gives you a fun, easy way to interact with other people in the pose and is generally fun.
And swords are not that hard to make - I've seen some amazing ones that are just paper-mache. My sister likes balsa wood coz it's light and quite sturdy, although she can put bite-marks in it. |

| It'll look better with, but as Unekorn says, make sure it's not metal, or a really heavy wood. |
