| Ooo, how silly of me to forget. The 24th is my brothers birthday, so if WCP decides to happen on the 24th then I may be in spirit only. My physical being is require to celebrate the arrival of my brother adding another year onto his offical age count. |

| Had the worst night of sleep EVER (again), plagued with more dreams about the Picnic. First I had a dream where the reply to the email was "YES!!!" and I was overjoyed, but then I woke up and was like "...PHYSICS. T__T" Fell back asleep and subsequently had another dream in which the reply to the email was "NO." Woke up again and was like "...PHYSICS. T___T"
-shudders-
THERE IS A REPLY. Thankfully(?), it is without an overt 'yes' or 'no'. Uh... yeah.
Wait a few years while I try decode it kthx ;; |

| This is what I have in way of wool and embroidery thread/floss.
- Spoiler:
I too have a bracelet pattern book, and although it has a lot of knot based patterns, there are some really easy braid based ones. Like this one: - Spoiler:
And... I also have a laminator I can use, if someone else has already come up with the tag design.

| xD lol u gaiz. Your faith is me is really quite astounding. <3
Anyway, here's the reply:
- Spoiler:
Hi Michelle Thanks for your email. Yes you are right, Civic Square is booked for the Out in the Square Gay and Lesbian Fair on Saturday 23 January. Therefore they have booked out the Civic Square for the day but are not using the City to Sea bridge. However their event would take priority over anything else as they have had this booked for months now. I have had a look at your website, and I was wondering if there is anything that your event involves other than gazebos and megaphones? Due to the strong wind gusts that we get through Civic Square even on a fine day, we are very health and safety focussed around any kind of structure that is erected on Civic Square. Therefore we would require detailed information about your gazebos, how many their would be, their dimensions, their manufacturers wind rating and how they would be held down. Also as you would be holding your event in Civic Square (on the City to Sea bridge) we would also require you to have public liability insurance* to the value of $5million. If you did not have this we would be happy to provide it for you for a fee of $40 + GST. If your event will not have any impact on the fair, we could look to get something organised for you. However the booking process normally takes a fair chunk of time so we would have to get it all sorted early next week. Would you be able to commit to this (things like completing and returning forms, providing event details and getting signed copies back to me) at the start of the week? Otherwise as an alternative venue, you could look at using a sports ground/park not in the central zone of the city where there may not be any rules and regulations/booking forms etc required to erect gazebos and sit down and have a picnic. I think a sports ground would be an ideal place for this, but you would have to keep in mind any Saturday sport taking place - although it is a long weekend so this may not be happening for some codes. Let me know what you think anyway and if you have any further questions. Kind regards Philippa Gueorgieff Civic Square Coordinator | Wellington Convention Centre
Thanks to mum I was able to understand the most crucial part of this email ;; Okay, so public liability insurance - if you don't know what this is, it's basically... insurance in event of damage. And you don't get it back, even if there is no damage. D: (We're in the big world now, huh)
Hmm... we have like, one megaphone. Well, I do. It has a voice modulator on it >D //offtopic
I just sent an email back to the tune of this~~
- Spoiler:
Hi Philippa,
Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. Before I relay this information to the other members of the Committee, I was just wondering if you would happen to know whether the grassed area on Waitangi Park would be available for use? We are hoping to find a central location, having used Frank Kitts in the past we found it ideal as if was easy to locate for out-of-towners. (It's unfortunate that we were unable to use it this time around.)
Looking forward to your reply.
I always forget that there's quite a sizable grassy area behind Waitangi Park. It's close to Frank Kitts again, so nicely central? I'd really like WCP to be central for a few reasons - mostly easy to locate, but also sort of... get us out there, you know? But in a good way. (Behaviour is the key!)
@Grassangel Duuuude, I think that's just what we need! Brilliant stuff! Okay, so you can get this at the $2 Shop? In which case - bracelet makers, that's your mission! Hunt down those threads!
I also have a book very similar to that, with similar diagrams. Which I keep on forgetting to get on the computer (again). I will go do it now ;;; Tag design-wise, I'm still working on that (taking too long methinks ;;) but we've also got a laminator here at home (which we haven't put to use yet), so I'll probably be using that. Thanks muchly for the offer, though :3

| xD LOL. I lol'd. <3
That's the thing though, we don't really want TOO massive. Frank Kitts is fairly sizable and do you remember how much space we didn't take up? We had like... one part, in the shade. Everyone was cowering from the sun. xD
I know you're allowed to put up gazebos at Waitangi 'cause I've seen them in some events held there. They had food stalls then too, but we don't need that, haha. |

I agree with Madja xD I think we only used the huge middle grass-area thingy [lol] for the tug of war and when Renodaddeh and I, er, had a massive awesome fight 8D
I think we can put up gazebos, too- I've seen them there a fair amount of times~ |

I haven't checked a $2 shop for a while, but THEY SHOULD BE THERE, IN THE CRAFT SECTION. The colours are random though, so if we're doing specific colours you might need to dig a little.
If for some reason $2 shops aren't carrying them anymore, check the look alikes and then the craft shop. The craft shop stuff will be more pricey than ~$2 for a dozen but they aren't more than $1 each, unless it's 'ZOMG, new season embroidery colours!'.
And I was just saying about the laminator if the people participating were able to print off charms for the bracelets they've made rather than you posting them or something. |

| Mm, I think I've seen them around myself. LAME IF THEY ARE NOT. I think it's just be easiest to get random colours, digging around for them would be too much effort >w> Besides which it adds variety and everybody loves variety, right? Generally.
Oh right! Yeah, I was actually considering having everyone give them to me and then I'd sew them on myself. It'd give me something to do, ya know? |

That is a good point~ WE MUST MAKE MORE PEOPLE ATTEND THEN XDDD I just had confirmation from another couple of people ((am currently explaining about closet cosplays because bubbles doesn't want to be bubbles without buttercup and blossom))
I reckon waitiangi would be good. Also, we need people to volunteer as runners... for people who aren't on the forums and aren't sure where waitangi is ((JERONIMO)). Meet at the welly train station and then show them the way back? ((I has a big black coat and am fully not keen on doing exercise and making the heatstroke worse...)) |

LISTEN UP, BRACELET-MAKING PUNKS. -shot- By Li-Bai. 15/01/10, 09:56 am |
| Choose the thickest one. Or you know, even take two or three and plait them together. Might work.
HEAR YE, BRACELET MAKERS! (Old English for 'listen up, punks!'. Btntrly.)
Finally! Whew. [Here] is the album with a bunch of patterns from my little book (all of them except the basic plait, which I'll assume you know already). Click the 'Oldest' option on the side to get the photos in the right order.
Be interesting with some of the designs, heck even mix a few together. It looks really nice when you use Mermaid Beads for a while, then switch to a regular plait, then back again. :) Another tip - don't tie it into a loop when you're done. Just leave it, since you don't know how wide someone's wrist is going to be. That being said, be reasonable about the length you make the bracelet at.
Report when you have obtained threads and when you are making, etc. Dismissed!
(I've also put this in the first post.)
Additionally it'd be nice for ye bracelet makers to say so as soon as you have seen this message, just so I know that you're committed to this or if I need to get people to make more each etc.
Back to emailing Rita Francis on p'raps using Waitangi Park. Cheers, guys. =w=
