Question about temporary dyes...
Post By Lumissne. 08/12/09, 12:51 am

I was planning to dye my hair temporarily for a christmas party soon but I was wondering, are you still able to straighten your hair after its dyed?

I heard some people saying that you can fry your hair after dying it... Can anyone confirm what actually happens? I was planning to dye my hair black btw whee

If you are dyeing your hair a darker color (than what it already is) it will be fine.

Its when you bleach your hair a lighter colour and dye over that is when your hair may frizz and burn. Question about temporary dyes... 691595

A temporary dye is just a colour that sticks to the outside of your hair. It washes out and does nothing to the hair itself. This is why your hair colour won't always go the same colour as on the pack- your own colour tones it.

A permanent dye regardless of whether it is darker or lighter starts with stripping out your natural colour and replacing it. All permanent hair dyes use bleach. It is how you get the same colour as on the pack.

Usually you can tell if it is temporary as it will come with one pouch/bottle with no mixing. if you need to mix step away very quickly. They will also say how many washes it will last.

A temporary colour will in fact usually condition your hair and will be fine with heat straightening but I would not risk it with chemical.

I really recommend Napro Livecolor/colour as it has a lot of conditioning agents in it. And if you use antidandruff shampoo you can wash it out sooner I hear.
