Cosplay Contest Rules By Interstella. 01/12/09, 02:40 pm |
| Hey, I was looking for the cosplay rules on the armageddon website, but I couldn't find it. I was wondering if it would be alright for me to use one of my own Heartless and Nobody designs as a competition piece. Completely designed by me, and made by me and my friend (Trisana). But I don't want to be disqualified because it's an original costume.
So what are the exact rules.
And as for the whole 70% thing, would it work if Tris and I both were to work on both costumes equally rather than 70% of our own?
We'd both be in the same group with no skit.
Someone let us know please?
Also, what are the coverage rules? Tris's shirt kinda shoes a lot of boobige, and my shorts are... well... short... We were thinking kink..... |

| Afaik the original design thing is accepted on a case by case basis - technically the best in show this year were original designs, but they were designs that had been around for a long time. The main concerns with original designs is that you could make the costume first and THEN the ref pic, so you need to be able to prove to the judges that the costumes were designed first, then made, essentially. For this one you're best off emailing the judges at armageddoncosplay@gmail.com
Working equally on both costumes would be fine I imagine - generally it's more that everyone in the group has to have contributed, and that 70% of each costume must have been made by members of the group, regardless of how many people worked on the same costume. :3
As for coverage; essentially, armageddon is a family event, so you have to remember that it needs to be suitable for that audience. Generally, unless you're actually 'showing the goods' I think that cleavage and short shorts will be fine though, but again, emailing the judges is the wisest thing. n_n |

| Thank you so much! That was actually really helpful ^^
I think I'll finish up drawing the designs, then send them that too as an attachment before sending the email... that way they can tell that I've designed it, and they'd also have time to look for it online if they doubted that I had...
Thanks for that though ^^
And you were quick ^^ |

| No worries! (Being quick is just procrastination, really... orz) That sounds like the best plan though. Just as a tip, when you're doing up your references - it's best to give as many angles as possible, so if you do front/back/left side/right side drawings, it gives the judges a lot more to go by. :) |

| That's going to be fun... I'm drawing it on the computer with a laptop mouse (as in the ones that's built in, not a plug-in) x.x
Well, something to do tonight I guess lol. |
