So um. This is the week from hell for me and every other Whitcoulls Employee in the country, but it's fantastic news for you guys/customers/people wanting to get some cheap christmas shopping.

Pick your price is a sale where we give out coupons with ridiculous specials on them, and you can use as many coupons as you like within a purchase (starting to see why it sucks to work during this week?).

This year we have:

50% off any one fiction paperback
50% off any one kids' book
50% off all greeting cards (excludes boxed cards)
30% off any one DVD or Blu-ray (30% is a bigger discount than what we even get off DVDs as staff!)
30% off Christmas boxed cards, Roll-wrap and accessories
30% off stationery and photo albums
25% off any one book
25% off Games, Toys and Puzzles

The sale runs from Thursday 19th of November and goes through to Wednesday 25th November - lucky us!

So yeah. If there was a christmas gift you were eyeing up, now is a pretty damn cheap time to get it. You can get your coupon sheet in store, or PM me with your email address and I'll email it to you so you can print it out. Very Happy

HURRR. Sunday is going to be hell incarnate, isn't it? As much as I want to work as much as possible, I'd be tempted to turn down shifts until this is over ;-;

That being said, I'll be using the 50% off Fiction coupon to add to my bookshelf. Employees are allowed to use them, right?

Just as a heads up, guys - all of these discounts are either the same or BIGGER than our employee discount, so you know it's a damn good deal!

I was sorta thinking that there was nothing stopping me from simply going to Pakuranga or Corner and buying there if it was going to be an issue :3 but given how much better than staff discount it is, that wouldn't make much sense.

This shall prove a very good opportunity to fill the gaps in my bookshelf. I have been meaning to round off my Eddings collections for a while now 8D

The Devil's Dances books- they come together, the first and the second, and I have to get them ordered in ;_;.

Actually, I do want that new Terry Pratchett one, but it's still very expensive even with the 25% off it. Has anyone read it, Unseen Academicals? Can the Whitcoulls employees recommend it? XD

I work on the kids floor at my store, so I didn't even know there was a new Terry Pratchett one out, sorry. Mine does, yeah - and our kids floor has heaps of cool stuff for kids like a giant volcano with a tunnel they can walk though, and a giant dollhouse thingy etc. 8D I think my branch is the 2nd or 3rd biggest in the country? I know the biggest one is the one on Queen Street in auckland but I can't remember if the one on Lambton Quay in wellington is bigger than my branch or not. :3

...All of a sudden I am extremely jealous of your job. And determined that there should be some kind of a petition to upgrade the Whitcoulls in Hamilton. All 3 of them. Because I, for one, would be more inclined to buy books if there was a giant volcano.

I know right? 8D Giant Volcano = totally cool. The kids keep climbing on it though, so it keeps getting chunks that are falling off on the sides because of it. sad
