Old Kingdom Cosplay. By Campy. 04/12/09, 10:38 am |
| So, has anyone here read the Old Kingdom Trilogy by Garth Nix? If so, I'd like your opinions plox!
I've been thinking about making an Abhorsen / Necromancer costume for a while now, and while in conversation with a friend about how aggravating the Bells will be came upon the idea of a Yrael / Free Mogget cosplay. Now I can't decide! One one hand there's a costume that I've been trying to justify for YEARS, with epic leatherwork, handbells, a sword and potentially even some kind of chainmail or ceramic armor. On the other, an excuse to reuse the epically long white wig I'm going to be buying, Wear gigantic heels again and spend the day walking around topless, in a shirt, potentially with a red leather collar or belt.
OPINIONS PLEASE! I'm actually considering going to Wellygeddon as well just to fit in more costume opportunities... And tbh I can't really afford that... Anyway, yeah, opinions would be awful handy!
NB: Before people ask, no, there are no pics... It's a novel series. |

| I can only say one thing. Do it.
If you do, I will love you and think you are awesome for ever more. I say go for Yrael since you will have the wig and what not, but there is a chance that you will be less noticed then if you cosplay as Sabriel or Lirael but they would only know it if they've read the series. But it depends on how much time and money you have.
And if you do go to Wellygeddon with an Old Kingdom cosplay I may have to go again next year, even though I was planning not to >___> |

| Do. It.
Book Cosplays own, as they allow for alot more creativity. And also, those books are just great. |

| Oh, and as the proud owner of a Tinkerbell outfit that jingles when you walk - the bells WILL make you want to rip your ears out. Make sure you get the silencing mechanism to work |

| I'd really have to get the silencing sorted... A jingling necromancer would be stupid! As soon as I put the bandoleer on, it would ring, and people would die. |

| I'm sure there was a system in the books. Straps on the clappers? Coz yeah, otherwise the necromancers are just walking around WHOOPS I've summoned a horde of demons. My bad, my bad. |

| Haha yeah, there were straps in the clappers. And personally I'd be a little more worried about The Weeper. If that accidentally rings EVERYONE DIES. |

| /reaches for copy of sabriel by bedside/ Yeah...the bell-bandolier fully encases the bells apart from the handle so they cant ring. and th seventh is apparently eternally cold. |
