In other news, I'm Xephia and I'm considering Cosplaying at Doujin Overload this year. A friend showed me this forum, because I've never cosplayed before (excluding my dressing as Tomoyo from CCS for a school event when I was nine) and he thought I might be able to get some advice here.

My biggest problem? I'm about 5ft1, very pale, weigh about 55kg, have -uh- not small boobs, and elbow length brown-black hair. So my cosplaying is pretty much limited to, uuhhhh, Hinata or, uuum, *thinks*... actually, you know what, Hinata is all I can think of, and I really don't like Hianta =3. So maybe hanging around here a bit will give me some ideas.

Looking forward to getting to know people! It's neat to see New Zealand communities online. Most of the ones I know of are pretty small, quiet or dead ^^. But for now, I'll go back to studying for my English exam =3

I thought of cosplaying one of the angels in Haibane, but I'd have to strap my boobs down, and I'm not too keen on that ^^; My friend says it hurts.

I keep meaning to watch serial experiments lain, but because it's so old it's hard for me to get into. I like anime really well animated, and old stuff looks so... old. Like, if you watched it when it's new, you would have thought it was great, but if you watch it just after watching, say, CANNAN, it's just so poorly animated in comparison. But I will watch it eventually =3.

Think it's recommend not to strap if you are size cup C and/ over. But is size cup C so can relate to your pain.
Because really prefer cosplaying/crossplaying as anime male characters and yeah.. can't do it..

But yeah also recommend looking up advice on cosplaying here because there might be a tip or some way to help you on out on your dream cosplays..

I wish I could crossplay as a male character. All my favorite characters are Male XD Soul from Soul Eater, Gokudera from KHR, Tieria from Gundam 00, etc. But I was thinking last night, and I've decided I'll probably go for Sakura from CCS, Lust from FMA, Maka from Soul Eater, Rin from Fate/Stay Night, a random Team Rocket character, or a pokemon.

I guess I have 8 months to decide and make the costume ^^

and I'm 5'9.5 and if I want to cosplay a 5'0 girl, I will, it's all in the spirit of fun and as much as being the right height is cool, don't let it stop you

I'm 6'1 (maybe 6'2?), and because of that I can't really cosplay the small adorable male characters (cosplaying UP works fine, down.. Not so much. EDIT: For guys, I mean. But maybe I'm just overly self conscious.)

lol, I just realized I missed a bunch of replies! Ooops!

I think I've decided on Lust from FMA or Rin from Fate/Stay Night - another problem I have is that my natural hair colour is almost black, so my eyebrows are really dark. I would have liked to have cosplayed Sakura, but now that I think about it, even with a wig I'd look ridiculous XD. I know it's all for fun, but I think I'd rather match the character I'm cosplaying as close as possible, so I won't have to spend too much money on a wig, contacts, hair dye, etc.

Also, what about a Lain cosplay after you've seen that? I think you could pull it off.
Speaking of which, you can borrow my Lain boxset if you want. You'll find that the initially poor animation and long still shots are actually quite intentional.

edit: watching it again, I guess it isn't as pretty as recent stuff, but it's still most certainly worth watching.

Lain would be fun, but my hair is long and really curly now (last time you saw it it was probably as long as Lain's?) so I'd have to wear a wig. And after wearing that blond barbie wig for Stage Challenge, I'd really rather not wear a wig again unless I have to XD
