Separation of maker and wearer By Selphiroth. 25/09/09, 05:50 pm |
| EDIT because people raised really good points about the logistics of this thread. So here:
Please state whether you want to be the maker or the model.
If you are the maker, state: - Your location - What you want to make, or at least your specialty - What kind of model you are looking for - What con/event you are available for - How are you going to split the cost and who will own the final product - Limitations (eg you are NOT making a full latex metal tank that contains live sharks in it)
If you are the model, state: - Your location - Your measurements (could be sensitive issues but at least PM the maker or it will be a nightmare!) - What you'd prefer to model for - What con/event you are available for - Limitations (eg you will NOT show one boob even if it's "high art")
In my particular case:
I am a wannabe dress maker. I am so not suitable to wear anything I want to make, being a short stumpy lard pack. So....
- Whakatane, I know that there are NO Whakatane cosplayers at all but I would prefer someone close-ish to me. - Am not picky regarding to size, more concerned over good communications. Also prefer my model to be over the age of 16, as growth spurs seriously scare me. - Next year's Chch/Welly arma EARLIEST. - My cost, my to keep. Unless someone really want to buy it off me. - Limitations, I am NOT making a full latex metal tank that contains... Okay seriously? I want to keep it fabric based. And I'd also like to do the make up and promps for the day.
*** (I'm quite surprised that there isn't a topic on this! Searched the forums and couldn't find one. If it's a replica, mods feel free to caramelise this topic!)
Anyone here who likes sewing but the thought of modelling or being photographed makes your skin crawl? Or the other way round, you'd love to cosplay but can't sew and can't afford to commission people? Would be nice if we can have a thread for available makers and available models to find each other.
I almost found a few people this Geddon, who's numbers I have lost. D=. Wouldn't be surprised more people would be interested in this though.
The only downside so far is that we won't be eligible for Cosplay competition in Geddons, which would put off a few people. For the ones who don't mind though... =D

| This is wonderful! I always have more costume ideas than I have time/bodyparts to do, and as a photographer I am always looking for models - particularly since I also do commissions, which quite frequently don't get photographed before I send them out. Models put up your hands! |

| I want to make a IRL Design portfolio after geddon for a Design Course...
I would be looking for Plus Sizes mostly, but all you thin people can put your names down as well
They are not costumes though...these will be my ORIGINAL DESIGNS! And if I like you, you might get some to keep there might also be a corset or two in there somewhere...lol
Be warned I have yet to make them, as I have been busy, but if you PM me your interest I will get back to you
//pimping
Yeah, this is a great thread ;D

Lol! Me too! I'm using a family friends daughter for a model though~ She's like 6 and adorable. ... I also might be designing an original fairy costume? C': SO HARDCORE. But yes, once I get some free time and start wanting photos to put towards a different portfolio, I'd be totally keen to get CNZ peeps. :3 If I do end up getting a stall next year at geddon. You can all run around in my things and be like, "GO TO HER STALL NAO." |

Re: Separation of maker and wearer By Static. 26/09/09, 08:57 am |
| Quick suggestion: how do models feel about posting their measurements, so makers can match their stuff up to the right person? This may not actually be a great idea, I don't know how may people want to share this stuff, but yeah. Just a thought...e___e |

Re: Separation of maker and wearer By Guest. 26/09/09, 09:14 am |
| As I will be the one making, I have no problem with it posting them...LOL
Though, if we had a List of those who want to model and a list of those who want to make, and keep the measurements under spoilers, or request them in a PM...
