CLAMP No Kiseki set - pricing help By Zeb. 11/08/09, 03:40 am |
| Some of you may have heard of the CLAMP No Kiseki set that CLAMP/Kodansha put out a few years ago. This was a series of 12 magazines that came with 3 chess pieces each, that was at one point re-printed in English by TokyoPop, but I think stopped printing as boxed sets and only as the figures or magazines once they found they weren't selling much.
Anyway, I bought all the Japanese boxes, AND got all the limited "send away" stuff too. These included:
Chess board Magazine Holder Special poster Chess piece holder Special chess pieces that came in the holder
How much this all cost, I couldn't remember... I do remember each one of the magazine sets cost me around NZ$60, so times 12... eek.
Thing is, I haven't opened the chess pieces, and only opened the boxes to get the send away tokens.
How much do you think I could sell the entire set for here in NZ? |

Re: CLAMP No Kiseki set - pricing help By MissEevee. 11/08/09, 03:47 am |
| pricing really depends on if you can find a proper collector to sell to, or if you just have to sell to a fan. i'd say at least 1k though, considering that you've been so good and left things in packaging etc. i imagine that the magazines are in fairly good condition too, so i'm going to say $500 to a fan (DON'T DO IT!), and 1k plus to a collector.
(this is seriously just me pricing things out in my head - nothing to go by that i've seen in NZ) |

| Original price is 1680Yen per. *12 is 20k yen. Taking the exchange rate back then, I'd go with 1:50.
$400NZ. Plus shipping. And collector's value... I'd say at least 6-700$. |

| Well this and most of my collection are about to go up for sale including my Death Note Death Box.
Now to find a way to sell and let people KNOW, without going through TM's ridiculous pricing structure. |

Re: CLAMP No Kiseki set - pricing help By Chiritsu. 09/10/09, 04:51 am |
| i Checked the prices on e-bay aswell..
http://cgi.ebay.com/Clamp-no-Kiseki-Complete-Chess-Set-plus-Chess-Board_W0QQitemZ280397735482QQihZ018QQcategoryZ106885QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ht_500wt_1067
in conversion it's pretty much $380 for the set (nzd) without the magazines.
for the price you paid which is about $60 x 12 = $720 Nzd Add another $80 mark up value because it's a complete set
that pretty much makes it $800. Nzd
The only reason why the e-bay one is cheaper by far is because New Zealand has to get it through probably two distributors rather than one.
It also depends on your motives. Are you after just to clear it for space or to make a return on it? |

Re: CLAMP No Kiseki set - pricing help By Zeb. 09/10/09, 07:52 am |
| Chiritsu that ebay auction isnn't complete though. Its missing the special chess piece holder, the magazine folder, the special poster, the special pieces that came in the chess piece holder @_@
Also further questions, would asking $10 per manga volume be a reasonable price? Am just concerned because for most of my manga I want to sell in sets, so if I have 9 volumes, thats automatically $90 which is a lot @_@
Also I have these (and one more that isn't pictured) is $45 per calendar too much?
Bear in mind each calendar also comes with an extra, and I don't think most of these images have been printed in artbook form yet. |

Re: CLAMP No Kiseki set - pricing help By Zeb. 09/10/09, 07:54 am |
| As for why I am selling my collection?
Cause I need money, I'm a jobless, and I haven't looked at any of this stuff in literally YEARS. Seems pointless to have all this stuff when it can go to other collectors who'll appreciate them more. |

Re: CLAMP No Kiseki set - pricing help By Zeb. 09/10/09, 08:03 am |
| What are your thoughts on the following:
1. Would NZ$10 per manga volume be too much to ask? All these books are in excellent condition (some never read.) Am just concerned because I want to sell series in sets, but if I have say, the first 9 volumes of a series, thats automatically NZ$90, which seems a lot ;_;
I also have a lot of manga in Japanese, from back in the day (we're talking mid-90s here) when it seemed highly unlikely that many titles by the likes of say CLAMP, were ever going to get translated into English. Is there any point trying to sell these?
2. DVDs I know I am not going to get how much I paid for them, but what sort of prices should I look to be asking for: boxed sets single dvds special tins or sets
3. Special limited edition boxed sets such as the Death Note "Death Box" and a 3x3 Eyes 10th Anniversary Box. How does one remotely begin to find collectors for these? I know Death Note is hugely popular, but yeah... I don't want this set to go to a kid whose going to rip it apart. ~_~
4. Figures, trading cards, calendars, magazines, plushies, gasha, doushinsi... whats the market?
5. Some of the stuff I will be selling is decidedly... ADULT in nature. I want to ensure they don't end up in the hands of minors (sorry guys!) in this, do I just offer them for sale to the people I THINK might be interested?
6. HOW does one go about getting the word out that this stuff IS for sale. The small stuff I am happy to throw on TradeMe, but definitely NOT the big stuff. |

Re: CLAMP No Kiseki set - pricing help By Basaka. 09/10/09, 08:21 am |
| 1. Considering you pay $20 at least at Borders for a volume... hmm You never know if there might be collectors that know Japanese, so give it a try?
2. check Madman for prices.
3. Fraid I can't help you there. If you use TM, it will be hit and miss. If someone knows a good place to sell/buy anime/manga to/from collectors in NZ I'd like to know too.
4. Might be pretty niche, but there will be one.
5. State it in your description.
6. Armageddon forums? I dunno... |

Re: CLAMP No Kiseki set - pricing help By Chiritsu. 09/10/09, 04:41 pm |
| Okay.. lots of questions but not enough time.
I'll answer the last three.
For now with the market, i'm a little surprised because i usually find you to be the one to ask about what the market is atm.. Unfortunately with the market as it is now, it's literally too hard to say which particular products are selling..
for selling things Adult, i'll answer that with question 6
To get the word out that you're selling large items etc, or items in general, i think it would best to ask seong for help with that as i know he sells other peoples collections too. Otherwise if i search anything anime related in NZ, i'm bound to find our name somewhere (trust me :3 i've done it lots haha)
In asking Seong for help, you're also getting the whole "Can't sell this to minors because of age" thing that stores have in forced on them (by the law obviously)
Bed time but i hope that helps you :3 |

Re: CLAMP No Kiseki set - pricing help By Zeb. 10/10/09, 08:29 am |
| Chiritsu I haven't really been in the scene for a while. I know the usual places, just wondering if anything else has changed.
Already gotten in touch with Bill re: a table at Armageddon, so fingers crossed.
I don't want to sell through Seong or Gotham Comics because they usually ask for a commission. I may as well do eBay or TradeMe if I do that.
And for adults, I think I'll just raise it with the adult fans I do know, and let word spread from there.
And looks like $10 is go, better start putting my lists together.
As for searching Madman's site for dvds, umm, I can't ask those prices cause no one PAYS retail XD |
